Isnt it stupid how you play a 5star song in o!m and its as hard as a 1star native o!m song? Why not calculate a new difficulty for the converted versions of each map for each game mode.

It should be easily done. Rigth?

That would take work.
Someone with free time that knows C# might be able to do this (as long as the osu!sdk has the functions that allow this, or the person who does this knows exactly how the conversion works). Also the one who does this should have deep knowledge of how the game mode works (so the algorithm used to calculate stars makes sense).

Also, the converted maps for a mode should have the same algorithm as the maps that were made specifically for the mode.

First you say someone should create a new algorithm
Then you say he should use the same algorithm.
what
Marcin
Calculator for mode specific maps is *sadly* same.

I dont understand how what you said could be even theoretically possible.

or then some misunderstanding
Marcin
Yeah, misunderstanding, since I didn't read part about osu!mania. Sorry for that. (fixing title because of that)

I did not mean it specifically for o!m, but for o!m, taiko and ctb.

Fine I heard you like pics so I make a pic of it to explain

There is this song made for regular osu
http://osu.ppy.sh/b/74327

It shows the difficulty as 4.82 (or 5stars as rounded in the client) thats fine for now I guess. First comes should not be able to pass it.

The problem that I have is that when I select the ctb mode it still shows the same difficulty values for each difficulty/song, as it does for when I play the regular osu! mode

But with the ctb mode its so easy that a baby can pass it. It does not deserve to be valued at 5star. It should be valued at something much easier.

My suggestion was that when I select the the game mode to something different like ctb, I would have different difficulty values for each converted difficulty/song. I would want it to look something like this

Now you get what I mean?

The reason I just used o!m in my opening post example is because its the most extreme in that mode. For o!m song to be 5star, it needs to have 14notes per second in the native maps, but because the requirement is much lower in regular osu songs it is stupid that the converted maps use same difficulty rating as the original versions.

zzzzzzzzzz this thread is such a mess

What I mean:
- Currently it doesn't seem that there is an algorithm to calculate difficulty in Taiko and CTB maps. The star difficulty shown is just the old star rating system designed for standard. For that reason, those algorithms have to be made.
- For osu!mania maps (and other modes if the algorithms get made some day), the difficulty shown in the song selection screen (and the site) should match the game mode that is currently selected. So instead of showing standard difficulty for a converted map when playing in another mode, the star difficulty should be applied to the conversion itself.

If there is not algorithm for that, how come the native ctb and taiko maps have difficulties calculated? Where do they come from? Old star rating for standart? what
