Here's an idea, why not make the no fail mod work like MP.
What I mean is count score normally and if you fail then divide it.
I mostly always play with no fail because I find it really annoying to fail at a song, though whenever I don't fail I still get a low score.

You don't get your score submitted if you fail in multiplayer. It pretty much already works in the same way, just that you can't continue playing in solo. Having it turn on no fail when you're close to failing goes completely against the healthbar mechanic, might as well get rid of it completely if so, but that's very unreasonable.
