Another updated build with huge performance improvements:

http://m1.ppy.sh/osu!.20130922.dmg
http://m2.ppy.sh/osu!.20130922.dmg

I can confirm getting the lowest latency I've seen yet (at 120fps limiter).
Exactly what changes were made to this build from the previous one?
Change in engine, edited registry, and changed settings.
Nines
The performance is substantially better now, but there are a few things I've found wrong with it so far.

-Custom bindings no longer work. I can't set my own bindings anymore.*
-Using space to skip doesn't work properly.*

-Also have a non-audio related offset issue. The circles and sliders are coming in too early.**

When I switch to windowed mode...
-previously mentioned on the OSX beta release thread, my tablet cursor starts jumping around, yet, all the previously mentioned problems are gone.

EDIT:
*For some reason, whenever I CAN use my keyboard keys, they only work for in-game and chat.
Whenever those buttons DON'T work (only the F1-12 keys work, regular keys only work for in-game) then they become usable ONLY for beatmap search function. Chat fails to type, spacebar doesn't skip, etc.
**It's an on and off thing.

I've already gotten rid of my old osu.app, so none of the .cfg files/aliases with the same filenames conflict. Still nothing though.
AkseS
Hmm I see. Sorry I haven't replied. Uni has just started and I've had a busy (although not for the right reasons) week. I'll get around to trying to test the problems you've mentioned sometime this weekend and I'll see if I can find a solution. To everything that's not the tablet jumping around in windowed mode issue that is. That's not a problem with the wrapper itself, more so an amalgamation of problems in general.

However the circles and sliders being early is new to me. It seems to me there's a problem with your settings file in general here.
Nines
Sorry, i forgot to update my post, somehow... or maybe the whole 'notes being early' was psychological... the problem went away after changing the resolution. All the other issues stand.

Here's an updated version of my post because I've gotten more in detail with this.

When ever I'm at situations like these:

Keyboard keys (all keys except Function keys) fail to work

shortcut keys fail to work

space button for skip fails to work

space to start/stop music fails to work

Z to return to beginning of song fails to work

BUT

When all of THOSE features decide to start working, THESE features fail to work:

Type to Search doesn't work.

Basically typing at all doesn't work. Yes, that means chat too D: (except anything that has a text field in its own window such as Jump to Song...)

Are you switching applications during playing? Are you running any hacks on your system (mouse/keyboard shortcuts, mouse "drivers" etc)?
Nines
No keyboard hacks/shortcuts, and the only "mouse" driver I have is the Wacom drivers for my tablet. The old release of the osu!.app had none of these problems so I'm not sure what's conflicting with these features now. (At least no more crashing :D)

Other system hacks, I'm not sure of. I, myself, am not aware of any.

Hello,

Not sure if this is the right thread but it's OS X related.
My osu! stopped working overnight :) it just won't even start up and i don't think I changed anything.
Tried reinstalling the game but i also noticed i can only download version 20130922 from the website.

If i can supply you with any information I'd be glad to
Thanks

The latest version is 20130922 so what is the issue here?
Delosias
Well the issue is that osu! wont even launch and I saw that the latest version was 20130926 so I thought it could be a version problem.
Nines
Osu! seems to freeze a LOT mid game now. As in, all visuals stop but audio goes on, usually lasting for around 6 -9 seconds, then the game continues.
Delosias
That is not quite the case. As I click on osu! in my dock it just jumps once and shuts down. It doesn't do absolutely anything.
mockingod
I have the same bug sometimes Delosias. I find that you need to open up package contents and find "Wineskin.app" inside it, and then open it. I'm not on my Mac right now so I don't know all the details of what you need to press, but if you press a button on the bottom right somewhere, I believe, then you should have a debug window open up. It should say Osu.exe or something somewhere. If you click on run, you can exit wineskin.app and Osu will not longer just bounce once in the dock then close. It will do as it has always done.

It's only done it to me 2 times in the past 2 months I've used osu on my mac.

If you are referring to this window and the test run button then it didn't help me at all :(

AkseS
Ok well I have about 3 possible solutions so let's start with number 1.

You'll need to navigate to /Users/[Your Name Here]/Library/Saved Application State

Once there delete every folder titled osu!. Make sure you don't just move them to bin but delete them fully. Then try running osu!. Tell me if that works.

This didn't work there was one folder titled osu![and some numbers]
osu! still wont start

Feel free to post the other two solutions at once :D Also could logs from a test run in wineskin help you?

For the game itself yes it is. But not for the wrapper that it runs on. You'll need to download 20130922 because that makes use of a new engine. If changing to that doesn't solve the problem I'll push out a new build and see if that works.
m_warsh
I reinstalled osu with 20130922 and the application still closes right after starting. Nothing comes onto the screen, just the app on the dock appears and then disappears. I've noticed that "osu!-1530562206Wine" and "osu!-1530562206Wineserver" are stilling running, as displayed by Activity monitor.

It is meant to be using the 1.7.2 engine and unfortunately I can't recreate your problem. What version of OS X are you currently on?

BTW the osu! icon is meant to bounce once and shutdown. It opens a separate instance that will be title "osu![String of numbers]".

I run on 10.8.4 looks like i forgot to update.... will do so now and try to run osu! or reinstall it...

But the separate instance never actually occured to me osu! always stayed in the same icon.

EDIT: updated to 10.8.5 still not working even after reinstalling osu!

but the wine test run logs changed:

こんいちわ!

i hope osu! for OSX can be played without using wine (100% pure OSX apps) because my MacBook specs vs PC specs differences not too far, but the performance (fps etc.) is pretty far >.< , when i play in my MacBook the fps never reached 120 (fps unlimited) but when i play in my PC the fps reached 500++
because after i analyzed Windows programs opened in OSX using wine, the performance is dropped.

ありがとうございます!

I second the emotion for a native OS X app of osu. Such would truly be grand.

I would like to ask about the edit mode-- why does it always crash? It's supposed to be like that, there is not possible way to fix it, or is there someone going to fix it (sooner or later)? I know it's not easy, but I would like to know anyways, because I've always wanted to make my own maps but I just can't go into edit mode. In windows I don't have problem.
Oh, also, thanks a lot for the work everyone is doing! I remember that some years ago I was really sad because the port lacked a lot of things, but now it runs very smoothly except for some little things, like the crush for download maps on multiplayer without osu!direct and the before mentioned edit mode crush. Keep the good job!

Hello to eveyrone, first time writing in the forums here at osu!

I've played couple months, and just decided to check the forums for a lot of the problems that I've encountered during this time.
Unfortunately, straight up I downloaded the latest .dmg file and installed (replaced) my osu! application, so now all my beatmaps, skins and settings are gone... is there a way to get it all back or I just have to start downloading all over again? :(

I'm pretty sad, because I already had a great collection, and I thought that this installer would just update the application itself and NOT MESS up all settings, beatmaps and skins.

I'll be looking forward to some answer :|

I'm afraid I have som bad news for you. If you right click the osu! app and Show Package Contents then navigate to /Contents/Resources/drive_c/Program Files/osu! there are folders with Songs Replays and Skins so if you deleted the whole osu! app they are gone

When reinstalling osu! you should always navigate there and save the folders, then replace them in your new osu!
iceniko
Thanks for the quick response. I understood my mistake, and I'm starting to gather everything again.. it'll take me a while, but well...

Another question - is it possible to download beatmap packs and insert them directly into /Contents/Resources/drive_c/Program Files/osu!/Songs ?
If that works - it'll make my life a lot easier than before, since I was dragging beatmaps one by one into the osu! application icon in a separate finder window. So I take one song, drag'n'drop, osu! opens, I close it, then repeat. For all of them. :-(

Never downloaded beatmap packs myself so i wont help you here but. When I download more songs at once i can just open osu! select them all in folder and open them at once. Osu! should load them all. At least it worked for me but right now my osu! doesnt work.
iceniko
Thanks again Delosias. I think my biggest problem will be finding the right skin, I used a really clear, minimalistic skin, blue-ish cursor (like a small blue ball/dot, smaller than the default one), circles where soft/generic colors, and the skin had an almost silent - like a clicking - sound.. that would be a nightmare to find. Anyways, thanks for the help! :-)

if you cant then you can put a mp3 into osu!/Songs folder and press F5 and search for it
it works, thanks
