Kept telling them that I was playing a game called 'osu!'.
It annoyed them, so they decided to play.

But quit shortly after - cry.

How 'bout making some frienemies on osu and rival them instead of getting friends you know in real life to play? D:
it's easier that way haha.

You must have some pretty bad friends, or aren't doing a great job advertising. I've gotten, maybe, 10 irl friends to join osu! myself.

i found that the best way to get someone to join osu! is to show them that a song they really like happens to be a map as well. Then they decide, "well this is kinda cool, I guess ill try playing that one map on easy..." and then they either get hooked or don't

I can imagine it being difficult because it looks kind of lame to random passerby, standard mode that is. I mean, you're just clicking on circles, after all.

Did get a friend to join a year ago, he still plays sometimes. I just told him I was playing osu! and to give it a shot.

One of my friends joined for a couple of days and never went back. Idk why though. It's really fun and addictive but he said what got to him was the annoying theme song. Other droogs of mine thought it was stupid for having a ton of MSI and N'Sync in there.

I'm back again, it's been a while since I've posted a lot.

People are entitled to their own opinion and maybe they enjoy doing something else more than osu!. If you get them to try it, good, if they like it and stay, good. If they don't like it just leave it at that and continue doing things both of you enjoy.

I've introduced it to a couple people, but once they come on and see the giant amount of japanese material, they want to leave :/ Of course, they don't need to play those songs, I don't like much of them myself. Do I really care, though? Nah.It's their loss.

I think the reason why I really can't get my friends to play osu is because they really arn't into Anime and other japanese oriented stuff. I've only been able to get one of my friends to even see a full video of osu or ouendan being played. And they really weren't interested in it enough to go out and download it

Hmm well i somehow managed to get 6 people to play. I don't remember how. I think one of them I was lanning with a few people over at his house and I was playin osu on CTB and they all seemed to get interested in that. Also a lot of people like the multiplayer aspect.

You could try going to their house and downloading it on their computer and leaving it open for them. Worked for me.

I managed to get 2 IRL friend (in fact, they are my housemates) to play and thank god, they are very addicted to it. 1 of them even start mapping and manages to get 1 map ranked. It's fun cause what I need to do is to shout "Hey, Alan wanna multi osu now ? " and then a 3 player multi match is set. XD

So far I've managed to get a total of... 10 people to at least try out osu. in reality, only 3 or 4 of them are actually playing osu oline with a degree of regularity.

Needless to say I'm the highest ranked osu and Taiko'er of them, but one of them is beating me for CtB :'(

One of my friends really likes this game, however, he sucks at the game, or so he says, he hasn't tried too much, maybe I should try to see if he can get better.

I was introduced Osu by my cousin "mrxk0okie", he just started playing it like two weeks ago...
Sense we're both pretty competitive i wanted to to try it out and get better than him!!

I agree there. The maps are usually pretty good but Hatsune Miku is driving me nuts now. I did a search and there are still 29 Hatsune Miku maps in Pending. Guess we won't get rid of her yet.

rythm games aren't a big genre in most countries compared to action or RPG's. so yes it is pretty hard to get people to play it. Lots of people don't even have good rythm so they dislike it even more

I'd honestly wish for people to stop mapping Hatsune Miku so we could get an even larger variety of songs, not just the latest Vocaloid thing someone shat out. That way we can get even more people into osu! by appealing even more to their music tastes.

Mappers only want to map Miku songs and then players don't want to play Miku songs.

How about that sort of situation? :/ Not to mention that Miku got old after the x+5th map where x>0.

I haven't been able to get any of my friends to join because of the sheer volume of anime and "novelty" songs which don't appeal to them.

There is a lack of variety, in almost all languages, because most maps cater to anime and vocaloid fans. The other maps out there barely get any attention so its hard to find those hidden gems that aren't just like the last map. I can't see things changing though, making it harder to get people into osu! (I'll keep trying though!).

I play osu! quite much now on breaks and some have seen me playing but they don't think it's a "real" game.

(They play stuff like Counter-Strike and DOtA)

My littlebrother have played a bit but he is bad at it (He can't beat some 0,5 star maps)
