Nah you have a good chance. My scores are mainly like retries. I'm not really good at FC first time haha.

5-2. Selection out of mod-specific brackets is limited. Each captain can only select one map from each mod-restricted bracket during match. So each team can pick 1 HardRock, 1 Hidden and 1 DoubleTime map during match.
This rule from owc should still apply if we're going to use mod-specific maps.

Before anyone yells at me, I'm not a player in this tournament, and these are just my suggestions for maps in the later rounds :)

I will say that a lot of these maps are good choices, but some are... confusing.

Some of the no-mod maps are so geared towards HR and or DT players (especially considering the players in this tournament many of which have HR/DT'd these maps). I feel like the maps that have very few mod scores would be better overall choices (or maps with only HD scores perhaps).

Let's look at some of the Mod maps.

HD:
- Almagest is a good choice, but may be too hard an HD map for first round. Good choice anyways. More like this in later rounds.
- Courage to tell a lie has HR/DT written all over it.

HR:
- Mercenary is kinda odd, because the mod split on this one is pretty even between DT and HR, but tons of HD scores. I guess this is ok as an HR map.
- bloomin' feeling is a perfect HR map. Great choice. More like this for HR in my opinion.

DT: Although I personally love both these maps (look at the top 10 for proof LOL), as first round DT maps, they are just fine. In the later rounds -closer to quarter finals, etc- I would suggest DT maps that are easy to mess up because of combos like 3-1-3-1-3-1-1, etc (kriers and gladi know what I mean for sure).

Edit: SG's post above is a good idea. It prevents players that are only good at one mod from playing the other mods they may be terrible at.

Difficulty will slowly increase over the maps, we've started of ''easier'' than the owc first rounds, seeing how there's a bigger group of players with variating difficulty. We'll slowly increase the level though, don't worry about that.

Courage to tell a lie is sexier with HD imo, as it brings out the slider 1/1 pause slider patterns out better.

I don't see how a score list on a map says if the map is good for DT, HR or HD. Mercenary is one of those maps which can be used with all of these mods.

As said and is logical, we'll slowly increase the difficulty of the maps. Don't worry~

i know it isnt but it's close enough

will it be possible to have 10 matches or will it count as a win for both

If you tie you have to play big money with DT. Ok no.
We could count it as a win for both players, or play the map again, or make that score null. I think counting it as a win for both sides is fair.

Here's a list of how refereeing went in the previous tournament in order to keep things smooth:

  1. Acquire all relevant mapsets without any deleted files.
  2. Switch to the default skin.
  3. Creates the room with an appropriate Match title.
  4. Save the link to the multiplayer history.
  5. Set the match to Team Vs mode.
  6. Remain host during all maps and use the multiplayer chat to take each player's requests.
  7. Do not skip the intro and do not participate in the match.
  8. Screenshot (Shift+F12) the results of each match.
  9. Create a post containing the match title, history and screenshots afterwards.
Edit: Added "Acquire all relevant mapsets without any deleted files.", so the matches run smoothly and the results screens have the appropriate image.

The No Mod maps I *have* played on the setlist are fantastic choices. The Mod maps are brilliant choices. The tie breaker is perfect.

I'll check out the other No Mod maps later, but if they are anything like the others, then I'll be happy :)

GOOD JOB MAP PICKERS! 8-)
Samothrace
So now that the first round is done, I've made a Google doc with all the scores because I was bored~

W = win L = loss SS = 100% F = opponent failed (which would explain some really low winning scores)

Also, 3 maps only got played once, KOTOKO - Unite + reactioN, Lacuna Coil - Spellbound, and paraoka feat. yusuke - center piercing (sakuzyo bootleg).

NieN - Mellow D Fantasy (DT) got played the most with 9 plays.

GL in round 2~

ah my bad, forgot to change to public

try now~
YodaSnipe
Works now.

What would be cool is if we could show points for each of those players to see who is doing the "best" currently overall.

e.g. FC Win = 3 points, SS Win = 4 points, etc, etc

... now that I mention it that's a lot of effort LOL

It doesn't look like Bites was the one who won. Silynn beat Bites 3-1, yet it says the opposite in the report :P

Better fix Challonge table and be CLEAR about who is the winner. Spoilers on names is NOT useful when you accidentally mix the order.
SapphireGhost
ztrot is shown as advancing to Round 2 in the Challonge table, but is in the "Out Round 1" list in the OP.

More subjectively, it'd be nice to alphabetize the players list so it's a bit easier to find any relevant names and display the map lists in reverse chronological order (such so that the current list is shown first).

pielak213- wrote:

My guess would be that the makers of this tournament decided that using flashlight would not be fair mod choice for such a tournament.

Personally, I see flashlight being more a personal/solo thing to do, as in grinding a map over and over again with flashlight until you memorize it well enough to obtain the fc. So in mp, it comes down to "who memorized the map better?" I don't think this tourney is meant to be a memorization contest.
pielak213
if flashlight maps are given beforehand, then it should be fair game. i don't think you're supposed to go into a match and expect to win without practicing. also the same thing applies for easy and sudden death mods.
