Good luck to everyone!
I'm a new mapper too. Let's do this!Oyatsu wrote:

Damn, this is so cool, but why even participate now. There'll be half a billion mapsets to these songs in just a few days, so it's not use starting now. =_=
This would reduce the work for the judgesEkaru wrote:
Why do I get the feeling that despite Fuss Fuzz's default snap divisor being 1/3 we'll get some entrants shoving 1/4 streams in there anyways? >_>
I already lost with that...Charles445 wrote:

Do these need to be hitsounded? (question for ztrot / Loctav)
Rooftop Run is from a game called Sonic Generations. Now as most of you know Sonic uses songs that are meant to be a tad bit repetitive so they can repeat sections and have it still work. This does not work when in a mapping competition for a song. Repetitiveness is something that isn't liked by every mapper. So it would be a very biased vote. It's already a known fact that anyone who does "Rooftop Run" will not win this competition.ztrot wrote:

"Pink Nightmares", is a song by Infected Mushrrom and when listening to the full song and this cut version, you will realize that whoever shortened this clip, cut out the least mappable and worst parts of the song.ztrot wrote:

"Fuss Fuzz" is also a very repetitive song but the vocals save it. Have fun mapping on vocals for a 2 minute anime song that was apparently shortened. Pick a better song. It was timed wrong originally too. This has been brought up.ztrot wrote:

Wow, you barely read his complaint and is already saying unnecessary things that don't add to the thread. What a mess.Loctav wrote:

Yeah but if you actually listen to it or play it you can tell that 145 BPM isn't proper. It's theoretical versus reality.TheGrimOfCrazy wrote:
In the editor the song was timed as "144.993" BPM. How lazy can you get. This song is created by a computer. It's 145 bpm but it seems like whoever retrieved this song was too lazy to get a correct encoded version.
Artists don't just put decimal bpm. Especially 3 places out.
Disregarding the song itself (I haven't actually checked it), you're wrong about this at least. It isn't that uncommon for electronic music to use BPMs like 120.5, not to mention that any DAW worth its salt will have access to fine tempo adjustment to at least three decimal places to be used at the artist's discretion. It does happen and can't really be considered an error.TheGrimOfCrazy wrote:

Didn't spot this when reading that post, but this is correct. IIRC even the Pokemon devs sometimes use some really... weird... timings.Jarby wrote:

Also, anecdotes from randoms in #modhelp effectively saying "wow that's odd" doesn't prove that the timing is incorrect. Moreso, if you actually knew what you were talking about, you would probably realize that it would also be incredibly unlikely for the tempo to be altered in this manner by an encoding error as you suggested.

By the way, the songs need a bit more variation. Most of them are really repetitive and are just the same beat over and over.

Beat is not the only element of a song you can map.Blue Dragon wrote:
It was just a comment about the songs. Why feel offended like that?

Yep, like in the third song, where everyone will map to the vocals because the beat is extremely repetitive. What's the point on that?_tear wrote:

Why couldn't they use this version? It's a bit longer but has the good parts of the song. Is cut better. It ends well.bmin11 wrote:
There is a video version of Pink Nightmare, which the length is 4:15
This will not require any cuts and the fade out issue
