interesting change; let's see how this unfolds
congratulations to all newBATs

Well, thinking on this point he's right, maybe the extinction of the MATs can bring good things.Andrea wrote:
Let's be positive, everyone.
Do not start with negative thoughts even before we will see how things come out, let's give a chance to everyone and see how it goes.
Just wanted to say this :3
This. Couldn't have said it better. :3Teara wrote:
I honestly cant believe most of you have such a low regard for the former MAT team. Not just anyone could get into MAT, and just because you got more power doesn't mean you automatically abuse it. Ephemeral has also clearly stated that we should know what he thinks about people stepping out of line. Every action has a consequence. Have a little more faith.
I will say that everyone is a human being and human beings by nature make mistakes. That of-course doesn't excuse you if you abuse your power. I'm talking about mistakes, not being a idiot.
Agreed! Us former MAT bumped into the BAT will do our best to improve upon our skills even further in a foremost extensive manner. We will try our best, so don't single any one of us out! We all are equal. Even though some may think that some of us are worse modders than others, we're all going to do our best to help. That's our duty, is it not? Please, think of the good that can come out of this. If something truly doesn't work out, there will be rules or such possibly appended and things changed to make things better.Teara wrote:

Each day is a learning experience. I personally will strive to improve my modding abilities to the utmost.. to become a better modder and mapper that I am currently. Even I know I have a lot to learn still. I'm no fool.
I don't think I'm the only one that thinks this way (or so I hope.)

and I guess that there will be no rounds for BAT or anything.
So now can people can stop bugging me about "omg cdfa ud be such a gud MAT omg"
This is great.
Except the MAT/BAT activity chart needs to be updated. . . again <___<
You know... I remember that the very first MATs to exist seemed to be selected from the most active modding queues from that time (I'm most prob wrong, but that's the impression that I got) and then no BAT wanted to mod those maps cause they usually sucked and had lots of problems, or something like thatTheVileOne wrote:
The standards have been lowered rather than raised.
I remember when you were just a newbie to this whole thing and I had to make a lot of improvements to get your guest diff to get it up to par. Now look where you've gotten yourself to! <3Teara wrote:

EDIT: Guys, if one of the new BATs steps out of line Ephemeral is going to kick their fucking ass. Those of you who have been paying close attention to certain staff members' name colors will have noticed that they've been damn serious in the past about this sort of thing, and I doubt that's going to change.
Seriously guys?Natteke wrote:

IMO. Stop Finding and Changing the people and start making audits for the work of all the people in the team..

Could we have some reasoning behind this?

this was a response to role dilution over the past few months which very rapidly thinned the barrier between what MAT were expected to do and what the BAT actually did. a MAT was effectively a BAT that couldn't rank, but was trusted with assessing maps as rankable, which was a complete contradiction from the very start and only a stopgap measure introduced to help the staff team better identify maps that were slipping between the cracks in the ranking cycle.deadbeat wrote:
may i ask why this has happened?
with this change, the former MAT now have full access to all the tools they need to perform their jobs properly as they were doing before, and we get a bunch of fresh blood and new opinions in the team to boot.
Thank you deadbeat, but I think it would help if Ephemeral edited this information onto the original post.Ephemeral wrote:

I giggled about that, but okay.Ephemeral wrote:
Members of the MAT who had a particular role (such as mania-only MAT or taiko-only MAT) will adopt that role amongst the BAT, and their forum titles will be updated in the coming days to reflect this.
