Let's be positive, everyone.

I read the title and thought, OMG MATs were gone :c
I hope you have a nice control for all new BATs as many people said their statement, as many MATs aren't ready to be BATs, but well~

I don't have arguments to support the idea of ''The MATs is needed here in the community in osu!'' .. But I can't support the idea of ''The end of the MAT'' too..

IMO. Stop Finding and Changing the people and start making audits for the work of all the people in the team..

I honestly cant believe most of you have such a low regard for the former MAT team. Not just anyone could get into MAT, and just because you got more power doesn't mean you automatically abuse it. Ephemeral has also clearly stated that we should know what he thinks about people stepping out of line. Every action has a consequence. Have a little more faith.
I will say that everyone is a human being and human beings by nature make mistakes. That of-course doesn't excuse you if you abuse your power. I'm talking about mistakes, not being a idiot.
Each day is a learning experience. I personally will strive to improve my modding abilities to the utmost.. to become a better modder and mapper that I am currently. Even I know I have a lot to learn still. I'm no fool.
I don't think I'm the only one that thinks this way (or so I hope.)

Agreed! Us former MAT bumped into the BAT will do our best to improve upon our skills even further in a foremost extensive manner. We will try our best, so don't single any one of us out! We all are equal. Even though some may think that some of us are worse modders than others, we're all going to do our best to help. That's our duty, is it not? Please, think of the good that can come out of this. If something truly doesn't work out, there will be rules or such possibly appended and things changed to make things better.Teara wrote:

BAT and MAt standards are basically the same standards now. If you would have been good for MAT before, you are now good enough for BAT. The standards have been lowered rather than raised. Really MATs could have been trusted with ranking maps anyways, they just weren't tasked to do so.
You know... I remember that the very first MATs to exist seemed to be selected from the most active modding queues from that time (I'm most prob wrong, but that's the impression that I got) and then no BAT wanted to mod those maps cause they usually sucked and had lots of problems, or something like thatTheVileOne wrote:

That was basically the system, yes. Although I don't think it was the MATs fault so much as it was the new proto-bubble system was just off-putting.
Eh old MATs were underappreciated anyways.
It's a good thing that everyone is under one system. It is a sign that the admins really trust the staff's ability. I'm not sure if I can really call it a lowering of standards actually since the difference between MAT and BAT mods is negligible. But I do not think it will be the case that all future additions will need to meet old BAT standards to get in. the new standards are that of a MAT now.

Those of you who have been paying close attention to certain staff members' name colors will have noticed that they've been damn serious in the past about this sort of thing, and I doubt that's going to change.

On a relevant note, as I think someone mentioned, this would make getting new members much harder as there is no role to test the waters of a person's responsibility.

the only thing new to this, will be the 'power' they get with it. they didn't have that in the MAT team either, so it'll always remain a 'test'.
