How about an animal of some kind holding a stylus, tapping the Osu! icon?
Or better yet, a Catgirl! Just... With only the ears and tail, not completely furry. *Shudders*

I actually think the robot idea sounds pretty good. It wouldn't really be that original, but I haven't seen many games with dancing robots, either.

On second thought, the anime girl thing might be a good idea, because the game is pretty much influenced by Ouendan, which is like... a stereotypical Japanese game, I guess. It's not my style, but it fits the style of the game.

Edit: I don't know what it is with me and mascots, but I didn't exactly help contribute to the Wiicade mascot project either.

A "catgirl", while inherently Japanese, isn't very osu!y if you ask me. But the whole "dancing anime girl" thing seems to fit osu! to a T. T...tosu. Just need to come up with a cool design. And then super rough sketch because awp can not draw either ^______________^;;

Yeah, I'd still say black hair and red eyes. Not a big fan of the kimono idea, though. Those can't be easy to dance in. I'm thinking of something more cheerleader-ish.

I think he is quoting himself to remind us of his suggestion, but it does give the impression he's arguing with himself.

As for the mascot, I must confess I find all poll ideas a little..."standard", but I will admit I don't have an alternative suggestion that I consider original myself.

He probably hasn't because he realizes that if you throw that onto a chan board for them to do as they like, we'll end up with way more trolls than we do now, and more than likely no usable results.

1: The topic probably wouldn't get any responses.
2: If it did, none of the images posted would be a good mascot.
3: If the topic got a lot of responses, this board would get a lot of spam.
4: The mascot would be more "personal" if the community made it.

Yeah, but it's still a hilarious suggestion.

Back to Sinistro about the whole "we're not being very original" thing, that's true in its entirety, but on the flip-side, it's a pop-sensation sort of premise. How many original ideas exist in rhythm games these days? Well, there's the Taiko mascot, but nothing else really comes to mind. Samba de Amigo's monkey? A clever yet subtle racial stab.

The premise is likely going to lack originality no matter what we do. I think the creativity is in the design, and hopefully we can come up with something beyond standard in the way of character design, like perhaps why this character's cheers are able to accomplish some sort of objective. Why, or How.

I'd think some kind of outfit that channels rhythm into a form of energy or karma which can then be passed on to those in need of help.
