Woo ~ was looking forward to this update xD
It shows the mode with the highest amount of pp by default, but I think it changes depending on what mode you are currently playing... not sure lolKRZY wrote:
Got a question.
There seems to be a default mode for each player. For me it's osu! standard, while for, say, Spectator, it's Catch The Beat. It is also the mode for which statistics are shown when you open the user's profile page and on the F9 screen when the user has just logged on to osu.
How is this determined?

You have things backwards. You are never penalised with pp. Go on as you were.Oblimix wrote:

This kinda forces you to play each song perfectly.
Score is still shown at all ranking screens and on your user panel to the right of your pp.Rey-volution wrote:
No, because why Ranked score is no longer available again in-game?
Oh, guess I don't really understand it yet then.peppy wrote:

would you make it possible for us to switch between the pp rank and score rank in game?so players who prefer score rank can see it while the pp rank is still therepeppy wrote:
Yes, osu! is now more honed to skill rather than played hours. If this makes you want to quit, then it probably wasn't healthy for you to be here in the first place.
Isn't it cool this way?Philippines wrote:

The transparent thing really bugged me tbh. I don't whatever you call that, but the little box that pops up when you finish a song is in transparent now. :O

Back to score rank!!
All the person complaining are just those high rank ones who are sad now cause they don't see anymore themself in the first pageVampiricPadraig wrote:
I am all for the new ranking system. I really don't see what people are complaining about.

Personally, Although my pp rank is lower than my score rank, that doesn't affect me a lot. Since the pp system came out, I started to practice skills more than just use none to FC a map.
Anyway, I understand those people who worked really hard on their score ranks complaining about the new system. Maybe a small demonstration of a score rank on the panel will make everyone happy. (pp rank size big, small score rank)
Problem is just that in-game, you can't see a person's score rank unless you open his profile.Matoryoshika wrote:
score rank is still visible besides pp
so what's the problem?
Lulz. Be better than them if you want to catch them. Passing them in score rank won't make any difference.Roflercoaster wrote:
In my opinion this update will destroy osu! as it won't be able to catch up with white wolf or cookiezi anymore....
With score it would still have been possible even if it would have taken a long time...
Hone ur skill and overtake each maps that are ranked by white wolf and cookiezi if you wanna beat themRoflercoaster wrote:

I probably am categorized as third though.Shirotaku wrote:
This update split the ppl into 3 groups,
First group that have higher score but lower pp, who wants the old way of ranking
Second group that have higher pp than score, who love this update
Third ppl that doesnt really care...
I agree with this.Winshley wrote:
Nooooo, I don't want to be on Top 1000. I would prefer be deep down at rank #50k+. xDJust kidding, of course.
Just adding suggestions:
- Accuracy stats should be at the same line as pp. Accuracy label can be shortened as "Acc." and Ranked score can be placed at the new line. (After all, the new Accuracy stats are based on pp anyway)
- Ranked score can be expanded into detailed info instead of shortening them (e.g: "20,000,000" instead of "20.00m"), or you can keep it shortened but adding a Ranked score ranking besides it (so it'll look like, for example, "20.00m (#100,000)").
- Add a new Online Users sorting by Ranked score (the old ranking system is sorted by their ranked score anyway)

No there is no option and there probably won't be. If you are better in CTB it will automatically be shown. That's it. Go and practice more standard and it'll be shown always on your username.lchgeorge wrote:

I play osu & CTB as well...and I want to show my osu status rather than CTB...even if my rank of CTB is higher than osu......

Seconded. Although I can cope really fine with a current system.iMercurial wrote:

Just check Performance ranking and see how much good players that are playing for 1 year are doing so much better then the 90% of 2008-2009 playersSaph1 wrote:

That doesn't mean there's less people in taiko or ctb ranks. Even if you only played taiko once, you have your own rank and stuff. So if you get higher pp in taiko than in standard, it means you are better in taiko than standard. Therefore osu! takes it as your main game mode, even if you don't actually feel that it is your main game mode. But one thing is sure, it is the mode where you have the best skills. In my opinion it's totally perfect.NullWojtek wrote:
Because other modes are less popular than main mode you can get very high pp on taiko or ctb with just few play when your main mode is osu.
Last game played? Now that would be way too confusing.NullWojtek wrote:
I suggest other method to choose user default mode:
-by number of plays
-by last game played
It's referring to the age of your records, not the age of the map itself. Ex. A #1 score on a 2008 map would give you the same pp as a #1 score on a 2012 map if all other variables were the same (That's almost never the case, but that's besides the point). However, a year-old #1 would give a lot less pp than a #1 you got 3 days ago if all other variables were the same.Nharox wrote:
Could someone explain me what "age of record" means? Ranked maps which are older than one year won't give me any points?
