Yes, osu! is now more honed to skill rather than played hours. If this makes you want to quit, then it probably wasn't healthy for you to be here in the first place.
I really hate the new upedate the ranking score now is bad and I don´t understand anything, I think the ranking thing It was better after the nwe update

There seems to be a default mode for each player. For me it's osu! standard, while for, say, Spectator, it's Catch The Beat. It is also the mode for which statistics are shown when you open the user's profile page and on the F9 screen when the user has just logged on to osu.
How is this determined?

I welcome the performance based ranking, nolife ranking is just unfair and doesn't really mean much.

Well, I'm fine with "pp", but I hope it could apply to more ranks, instead of just the top 1000 of each map, since I only play insanes and have around rank 2000 for a lot of them due to massive number of players.
My pp is less than those less skilled than me, but since they play hards which is easier to get in the top1000500, more of their scores go towards their PP.]

BTW,the same pp number is not the same rank in osu!/CTB/taiko. CTB and Taiko players are much less than osu!mode,so their pp rank is higher.that's not fair.could you rank them in 3 different lists?
I think it will be better if add a toggle to switch between the two ranking systems.

If you want to switch back to score rank, you will need to disconnect from bancho and use your imagination.

I personally like the update, but I don't know why they're complaining about this. Now there are 2 types of ranking, one which shows your ability to fc or the amount of plays you have, and a second that shows your skills above other people. Whatever, being the pp ranking the one that appear, it doesn't make the score ranking less important, so...

To be honest, I liked the Ranked score system better, because, if this is what I am thinking, most of the people will get pp from a single song (if I am not correct then sorry), but with Ranked score, you MUST get new songs, or try to get 1 or 2k more than previous play. And no, I am not one of the high rank players, I was at #58000+ Just my opinion
And this is just crazy (sorry), but I have been playing like 5 matches today with a few misses, and my original ranks keep going backwards and no score added to my ranked score :\

Personally, Although my pp rank is lower than my score rank, that doesn't affect me a lot. Since the pp system came out, I started to practice skills more than just use none to FC a map.
Anyway, I understand those people who worked really hard on their score ranks complaining about the new system. Maybe a small demonstration of a score rank on the panel will make everyone happy. (pp rank size big, small score rank)

I totally agree on that. I lost around 1500~ ranks, however, I don't care that much, but I don't see why there shouldn't be the score rank next to the pp rank, a little bit smaller.
Would make people happy to see the effort they put in getting high ranks (through farming, yes, but that's just another way to play, isn't it?) isn't completely forgotten.

In-game ranks are easier to show, which makes their score rank"disappear".I'm not 100% on how PP works but I prefer it to the old way of ranking as I agree that skill is what should be ranked. At the end of the day, I enjoy playing the actual game anyway, not solely making some number higher for the "I'm better than you" factor.
Also, are the osu png banners that show your rank and everything going to be updated to this new scoring system or are they being phased out?

pp rank is harder to raise it up than score rank for sure, but this indicator certainly shows that who is in higher rank by their skills.

- Accuracy stats should be at the same line as pp. Accuracy label can be shortened as "Acc." and Ranked score can be placed at the new line. (After all, the new Accuracy stats are based on pp anyway)
- Ranked score can be expanded into detailed info instead of shortening them (e.g: "20,000,000" instead of "20.00m"), or you can keep it shortened but adding a Ranked score ranking besides it (so it'll look like, for example, "20.00m (#100,000)").
- Add a new Online Users sorting by Ranked score (the old ranking system is sorted by their ranked score anyway

I don't like the new PP system, but at the same time I believe the decision to have one was a good choice. This game has 22k+ ranked maps, and this makes it very difficult for new players to rank up.
In the old system, ranking up doesn't imply skill, but rather time. However, time=experience=skill; so to an extent having a high rank would generally mean you're good at the game.
This new system is kind of similar because it's point based, but to gain points you need to rank on the top 500's. The amount of points you gain is based on how 'difficult' the map is. This new system kind of implies you already have experience, and it rewards you for doing good on individual maps.
What I don't like about the new system is that you have to rank in the top 500's to get PP. This endorses the player to play the same map over and over again until they get a good score. I don't like that type of game play, and this is the whole point of my post.
Overall I'm fine with having PP shown in my stats but having my picture-tag-thing in game show my PP rank instead of the other system I do not like. The new system shows us skill, but experience is a very important achievement too. No there is no option and there probably won't be. If you are better in CTB it will automatically be shown. That's it. Go and practice more standard and it'll be shown always on your username.lchgeorge wrote:

Yes! This is what I have been expecting for a long time. Now everyone is in their own play mode and the ranking is more accurate. Thank you peppy!

I don't like how default mode for user profile and usercard is chosen. Because other modes are less popular than main mode you can get very high pp on taiko or ctb with just few play and then taiko or ctb becomes your default mode even if you play mostly standard mode.
I suggest other method to choose user default mode:
-by number of plays
-by last game played

That doesn't mean there's less people in taiko or ctb ranks. Even if you only played taiko once, you have your own rank and stuff. So if you get higher pp in taiko than in standard, it means you are better in taiko than standard. Therefore osu! takes it as your main game mode, even if you don't actually feel that it is your main game mode. But one thing is sure, it is the mode where you have the best skills. IMO this ranking is way better.
It's referring to the age of your records, not the age of the map itself. Ex. A #1 score on a 2008 map would give you the same pp as a #1 score on a 2012 map if all other variables were the same (That's almost never the case, but that's besides the point). However, a year-old #1 would give a lot less pp than a #1 you got 3 days ago if all other variables were the same.Nharox wrote:
