Just a note, it's not Charles Barkley, the full title is "Barkley Shut up and Jam Gaiden: Chapter 1 of the Hoopz Barkley Saga", but yes it is spoofing the title "Barkley: Shut up and Jam". And that game is definitely worth checking out if you like interactive JRPGs. Be forewarned, the save point monologues will anger the easily trolled non-weeaboo.
plz edit my posts so i no mistake i dun do myself
updated post with proper punctuation as depicted in main menu of game

Toribash

Toribash is an innovative fighting game where YOU design the moves!
The fighting is kinda like Matrix.
Booring if you ask me but maybe you will have more fun :P
Its very innovative anyway.

http://www.toribash.com/

Wolf Quest

Wolf Quest is all about playing a Wolf.
Hunting down your preys, finding yourself a Wolf pack
and simply survive.
You cannot do very much expect from hunting though.
But the game is still somewhat WIP.

http://www.wolfquest.org/

The Hunter

The Hunter is as you can expect, all about hunting.
Its just you a very big island and a small bunch of preys.
Track them slowly down and shoot them.
But be carefull, if you're too loud you may never find them.
Very realistic.
(Online mode is WIP)

Amazingly good OP. I'll add collapsable style tags in a few hours.
Nazo_old
I went for the booster 0.8 in Cave Story. You could get the 2.0 Booster later if you dont go for it now.

But you can get the special stage if you skip 0.8. Also you get the good ending.

REGRETTING THAT CHOICE NOW. ;_;

If you add our posts, I'll delete mine. I actually wish you had the power to mod just this thread, so you can take others suggestions and put them all into one super post.

I am currently enjoying http://www.deathball.net/notpron/ an extremely challenging yet stupidly unfair (but fun) puzzle game that makes you feel like you are cheating
NightBaron_old
For fans of point and click adventures, you may enjoy A Tale of Two Kingdoms. It's a somewhat open-ended fantasy adventure that may satisfy fans of the Monkey Island series and the like. http://www.crystalshard.net/atotk.php

Also, The Battle for Wesnoth is pretty fun for fans of turn-based strategies. http://www.wesnoth.org/

PC Powerplay just gave me Dark Sector for free~ it's the censored version
(I wouldn't waste money on it or quota anyway)

Spelunky
SPOILER

In the creator's words: "Probably the easiest way to describe Spelunky is that it's (kind of) like La Mulana meets Nethack - every time you play the levels, items, monsters, and so forth, are all procedurally-generated. And the terrain is destructible and there are quite a few ways in which the various game elements can interact with one another.

My goal was to create a fast-paced platform game that had the kind of tension, re-playability, and variety of a roguelike. In roguelikes, the gameplay tells the story, and I wanted to give Spelunky that type of a feeling... but make the player rely on their reflexes rather than their brain (or knowledge of what 50 billion command keys do!). If there's a best of both worlds, that's what I was trying to go for."

Basically, it's super awesome, and you should play it now.

Iji
SPOILER

This game is essentially a Metroid-esque game with an interesting storyline, an intuitive upgrade system and several endings. Definitely worth playing.

Gravity Bone
SPOILER

An interesting game of the secret agent genre (it's a genre now, deal with it) that's fairly short, but definitely worth your time.

Chalk
SPOILER

An interesting arcade-type game that involves drawing lines and shapes to attack enemies. Also, the game can be controlled with just a tablet, though I was able to play through the game just fine with a keyboard and mouse.

Legend of Princess
SPOILER

Basically a Zelda II parody/fangame made by the same person who created Chalk. It's pretty nifty.
I might add some more games later if I feel like it.
awp
Iji looks cool; will try it out though I can't say I'm a fan of the flat-looking graphics.
adam2046
Oh I forgot about Gravity Bone, that game is quite an awesome 5~10 minutes.
*adding a fighting section*
awp
Apart from the inability to fire while jumping, I'm really diggin' Iji. (Also, though I'm only 3 sectors in, the upcoming plot twists are likely going to be very predictable).

EDIT: Yeah this game is amazing. I like the subtle details which I thought I was the only person who wanted to see in a game. My Iji's starting to get aggressive/shout at enemies as I kill them now.

Re-iterating that Iji is awesome. Anyone who hasn't played this game definitely should. While I wasn't as engaged in the story as I was Cave Story, I might even consider it better than Cave Story. The game does a really good job of letting the player shape elements of the story/gameplay/immersion. Also bitchin' soundtrack and stuff.

Done pacifist/genocidal run, need to play Extreme for Ultimortal and 2 posters left.
adam2046
I was left quite unwowed by iji when I first played it, great game I can tell, just not for me.
adam2046
Probably gonna reorganise my post with screenshots and proper descriptions over the week, might add some other stuff too...probably.
So lazy~

On a different note, if anyone hasn't been to Kongregate, check it out.

Thanks a lot for the tip! I love it, totally addicted. Just level 10 ATM, but climbing up ;)

Id suggest mugen but IMO its a PAIN finding the game, and even worse adding balanced character and stages, let alone making them yourself.

The Karoshi games
SPOILER
Karoshi

http://www.venbrux.com/karoshi/karoshi.zip
Literally, Karōshi means 'death by overwork' in Japanese. With absolutely no hint of a storyline whatsoever, the player must traverse 25 puzzling levels in order to defeat a mysterious final boss. Simplistic graphics, a pretty upbeat BGM and hilarious puzzles make this pretty darned good.

In order for the player to move on to the next level, they have to find a way to kill themselves, either by jumping into a pit of spikes, getting crushed by a steel box, etc. This is often done in slapstick or just plain random ways, however there are a good few which are so obvious, yet still takes you forever to figure out. A definite must play, even if one playthrough.

Karoshi 2.0

http://www.venbrux.com/karoshi2/Karoshi%202.0.zip
Karoshi 2.0 is more of what the first game already offered, but the puzzles this time are more about different/unusual solutions then they are about shoving crates.

Featuring a level editor and speedrun mode of the original, plus an extra 46 levels. Pure brilliance.

I'll add more as I find them/remember them

What if you saw the world with your ears? Devil's Tuning Fork is a first-person exploration/puzzle game in which the player must navigate an unknown world using visual sound waves. Inspired by M.C. Escher’s classic optical illusion and the echolocation of dolphins, The Devil’s Tuning Fork allows the player to explore a new mode of perception through sound visualization.

As a mysterious epidemic causes children everywhere to fall into comas, one child wakes up in an alternate reality. It is up to this child, the player, to determine the cause of the epidemic and save the other children trapped here. By way of the devil's tuning fork, a magical instrument that allows the player to perceive sound waves, the player must find all the children and successfully escape this alternate reality, thereby waking up from the coma.
