Ah great. You know in another forum I wasn't so I thought I'd ask first.

I only watch through streamers since I'm just too lazy to download them. I don't mind the quality since it's good. Not THAT great and HD and stuff but I don't need ultra sharp renders which cut through my monitor. Sometimes I think of downloading some of them but I didn't do it yet.
Oh really? Must be some official or "respected" forums, no?

LOL, kinda same. Though I download most of what I watch as a re-watch for another time. Also, I make AMVs/MADs for myself time to time.

Admins just fear an anime stream might be too illegal. You know, it's germany here. I don't know if it's legal to watch anime via stream (since I just pay internet and electricity, not the anime itself) or not. On the other hand I don't care, it's available and so I watch it.

I could re-watch the anime I want to re-watch all the time (as long as I have internet). But some kind of media player for long journeys with some anime would be great though.

Most are illegal (same goes for download, obviously). Though there are legal streamings (which mostly as an out-of-Japan campaign).

Exactly why I download them. Internet around here isn't exactly great. That's why I have some anime to pass time.

And that's why I'm not permitted to mention it everywhere.

Maybe I should download the anime movies. GitS and stuff. At least the first one (because it's awesome and I like the first GitS movie the most out of the whole GitS stuff). How much time does it take to download the anime? I mean, if internet's not that great.

Well unlike downloads, you could actually state a legal streaming as long as it is (and obviously) legal. Take Crunchyroll as an example.

Downloading time? Depending on the size of the download. Here, it mostly cost about half a day/ 13 EPs with decent quality. A 24 EP season lasts about a day or so. For note, my Internet speed around here is decent and reach about 100kb/s (though I use Wi-Fi router, so it isn't stable).

I usually keep saying "I watch on my computer", which could mean anything from downloading anime 'til watching it via DVD on PC.

I guess here I'd have to download half of the time you need. Probably. Maybe I should just try it out.

Why didn't I think of it?

Oh, you... Meanwhile, I have to suffer with what I got. Though I should be thankful at the very least.

Sometimes, I want to support the people behind the anime and stuff. But due to reach-ability and other factors, I can't keep up with it until I have a stable and decent job.

Possbly it's too simple?

I can't help it but you make me feel lucky with what I got. Nevertheless there are people out there who can download a whole season in less than 10 minutes. Who does even need that?

How you'll gonna support 'em?

Correct.

Wait, really? Oh, how godlike. I did experience that kind of speed while I was staying in Japan. But if I am to be staying in Japan, I would prefer the legal way.

By buying their stuff, of course. I'll probably start with DVDs and games (though I already bought some legal games). Then, I might go to mercs if it's worth it.

My dad's downloading a whole movie in less than 20 minutes so I guess it's pretty fast.

To be honest, I do not buy the music I listen to. Nevertheless I'm going to concerts and buy their merc stuff, maybe this helps 'em even if I do not buy the music. Also, I buy all my games. I do not download them (it takes too much time and is too complicated). And as I stated before, anime is watched via internet stream. So yeah, I think buying their stuff is the best way to contribute :P Someday I'll support 'em for their work too but yea... the money. Electricity is not as expensive as to buy a whole two seasons and three movies.

That's some connection your dad have. People around here will be jealous when they hear your statement.

LOL, you're the same as me. If it's next-gen console, I bought all my games. While I never actually buy my music as well. And nice reference to your love for GiTS, BTW.

That's true. Sometimes even I am jealous about it. But I have to admit, on the other hand, I am pretty satisfied with what I've got here since everything is working just fine.

I know some other people who do it like that. Seems a bit popular, doesn't it? Perhaps it's because music's not that big. Five games are bigger than five albums (in most cases). Unless you have some high-speed connection to the net. So... Music's downloaded from the net, movies are watched in the net and games are bought legally outside of the net.

Agreed.

Yeah, it is quite popular. And your reason is one of the most sensible one applicable.

So back to the main topic I'm interested in with what kind of subs/dubs you're watching anime. As I stated before I watch anime with japanese dub and english sub (I could watch german sub in some cases but I refuse to since I want to get better in using english).

JP dub with EN sub.

Understanding the conversation while hearing the original effort of the VA is the best.

I totally agree with that. Though sometimes I have trouble understanding everything when I try to hear some special words I read in the subs and then I let it slip and I'm totally out.

LOL, I felt those times as well. Usually, I made it up by learning another word in it.

How about quality? In pixels, 360p and up are fine to me. If it's good, I usually put them in my phone for offline viewing.

If I really have trouble to understand the context I look up some words in a common dictionary. This helps me to understand and learning new words. I just leanr them because I need them in anime and internet. It's kinda LOL isn't it?

I can agree with that. As I mentioned before, I do not need 1080p HD quality, 360p and up are just fine to me. Since I do not pay anything to be able to watch it I do not expect high standards and I'm satisfied with what I get since it's not crap quality.

Yeah. But I have other reasons in learning Japanese since I am blood-affiliated to Japan.

True. It's better to see rather than not to see, no? Relieves the curiosity for entertainment.

I just learn new english words I din't know when I had to look them up. I won't touch japanese, at least not yet. There are a few words one may recognize from hearing them but that's all.

Why not? Hearing them and reading them is different, no?

Or are you focusing on English?

I love to hear japanese language. In my opinion it sounds beautiful. But I'm more focused on the subtitles, yea. Maybe, someday, I'll learn japanese. But not in the next few years I assume due to my non-existing motivation.

Yeah, me too. Even the so-called "World's most beautifully-spoken language" came second to Japanese IMO.

So, motivation's the problem? I understand that. Just keep digging the Japanese world if you want to find motivation.

What language might that be? I really don't have any idea on that. I like japenese the most, after that english and after that german, my language. I don't like the grammar stuff here in germany but the language has something "hard" to it. It's just... well, german.

Yep. I do not want to start learning just to leave it a few weeks or months later. I know I will quit it after a short period of time.

Don't really know. Most people here refer to it as French, but IDK if it's acclaimed so globally.

Guess that's fine. Awaiting something that would change your mind...

French? To be honest... errr... french is the one and only language in the entire world I would say I hated. I dislike it the most out of all languages.

Hah! Me to, me too.

Sounds friendly and welcoming. Well, thank you for that opportunity. Since I still go to school there isn't time for me to learn it anyway because I have to learn so much other stuff it's not funny anymore (When I say "It's not funny anymore" it's just a phrase regardless of whether a topic's supposed to be funny or not, just for your information). That's not to take as an excuse.

Well, I have the same problem when I'm on school. But right now, I'm on vacation. So...

Here in germany we don't have japanese lessons in regular school. We have to visit certain schools for this kind of language to learn. Same goes for every langauge except german, english, latin, french and spanish. At some regular schools you might learn russian, but that's it.

Well, that makes sense since you're in the European region. But having to go to other schools adds the troubles to it, huh?

Exactly. Since other schools might be kilometers away and such. Not every school, though. I know a guy who's brother has a friend who goes to a school where he's learning japanese at the moment. Shouldn't be too far away.
