3DS XL announced. Coming August 19th for $200.

Also, Prof. Layton 5 coming out for 3DS this Nov. FE13 is confirmed to be coming out in 2013.

Reggie also made a point of saying that while NSMB2 will have DLC, they won't start development on that DLC until after the game's completed and finalized; *then* they'll shift their attention to the DLC.

Oh, and EU is getting Animal Crossing in the first half of 2013. They're also getting Pokemon Typing Adventure this September - I'm amazed that they're actually localizing that game. We'll definitely get AC, though, but whether or not we get Pokemon Typing Adventure is up in the air.

...Someone please explain to me why they didn't announce any of this shit at E3. I'd really, really like to know.
Azure_Kite
Because E3 is aimed at shareholders nowadays, not gamers that are actually interested in this stuff.

Get the regular 3DS at one of the $150 sales then. :P

Besides the 1st Gen 3DS looks cooler, anyways. Who cares about the no-upscaling mode for DS games? Nintendo will probably patch that into the 1st gen anyways, and there's always Start + Select if all else fails.

Start + Select is what I meant by "no-upscale mode". It would be bigger on the 3DS XL because it'll have a bigger screen. Sorry for the confusion.

But yeah, I won't be getting this simply because I cannot imagine playing KI:U with this thing. Plus, the PPI would be worse.

EDIT: For casuals it's a great choice, though, because most of them would prefer the significantly bigger 3D sweet spot over a better PPI or having an easier time playing a game they probably won't be playing.
Azure_Kite
Ah, well... Disregard that then :p

As for Kid Icarus, nothing feels more fun than dashing up behind someone whilst you're transparent and slash the crap out of them with raptor claws. Fast speed + Tirelessness + Transparency = win
Hika
It's the size of the 3DS that irks me the most but I'll just go buy one next weekend.

I suck so hard with Melee. I'm more of an EZ Cannon person, kthx.

No, really. I got a 5/0 one with Shot Range +3 and Fwd. DCS +3, and it's so much fun to dink around with. I just slap on Invisible Shot Lv. 3, Slip Shot Lv. 3, and Homing Boost Lv. 4 and spam its Forward DCS. Close-range combat is fun in corridors with Slip Shot off, too; shooting into the wall results in a 149 damage explosion surrounding me. It's not a godlike weapon, but it's fun and works well.
Azure_Kite
Yeah, I've pretty much always been melee, since I can't stand slow movement speed :<

My Raptor Claws are 4.5star Ranged and 3.5star Melee, with minor additions to Over Defense and in-Danger Autododge. It also has a weak poison debuff. I can generally last a fair while on a single life, because if I feel too endangered, I go transparent and run to safety, where I can heal.

I only have one 300+ weapon, the crusader blade, but I don't like the feel of the weapon.

;)

<3 indeed.

Also, guys, only North American 3DS XLs will come with an AC adapter. Is NOA the only Nintendo branch that realizes that when somebody buys a new portable device nowadays they expect it to come with its own charger?

Oh damn, sure hope it's also here in Europe. Few more hours and then I'm home >.<

You Europeans are going to have to buy your own AC adapters, sorry! On the bright side, you do get the 3DS XL a month earlier than we do.
bomber34
I won't buy a XL, because i alrready have a 3DS and tbh. The XL version looks very ugly D:

Yeah I meant the KH demo :D
Yup, there it is and there's also demos for Heroes of Ruin and Theatrhythm FF~
Ekaru
Oh, that! Oops. XD

But yes, the demo's fun.
Azure_Kite
The chargers have always come with devices, here.
rust45
So what do you guys think of the KH demo? I'm honestly confused by what Neku's purpose is going to be (I hope he isn't just in Traverse Town) and why they even showed the scene with him.

I also managed to clip out of the map while spinning around one of the pandas, but it put me back on the map pretty quickly and I couldn't replicate it.

Just got a Nintendo employee over StreetPass in Mario Tennis Open during a convention today. I know that because his Mii's name was Nin★Jamie.
Planning on getting myself Theatrhythym Final Fantasy coming out in the next few weeks as well.

I saw the KH 3D in a nutshell video few months ago which was posted here and there *spoilers* Neku or his counterpartner is one of the main bad guys. Don't remember that much so anyone can correct me.

Oh look, I'm now a Nintendo Employee

The demo, in my clearly unbiased opinion, was fun. It had more content than I was expecting to be honest o.o (Although my best friend disagrees with me and finds it too short XD). There was no Riku gameplay *sadface*

Visuals (omg so good!) and audio were great (remixed twister/TWEWY track during Neku cutscene!!!)

I spent a min or two at the menu screen admiring the pretty purple/silver/black scheme while listening to KH3D's Dearly Beloved play <3
I began the tutorial by just jamming to my favourite battle track. I assumed the tutorial would be really short (because demo) but it was pretty lengthy. Commands were BBS-ish.

Flow motion <3 (It makes me feel overpowered sometimes. Just me?)

I miss the heartless. These dream eaters are too cute @_@ (even the dinos from the link portal <3). And since everything's all flashy and glittery, battles feel like a circus act (Balloonga?). Btw, what does Necho cat?/the kitty in my party do?. I just break into dance when I link with it o.o.

All in all I enjoyed the demo.

5 more weeks and 3 days...
NaomiMinette
KH3D demo was WAY too short, and the new battle system is somewhat confusing to me, but whatever.

Not sure what I'm gonna be doing before the game actually comes out though...

Claimed the reasoning of "People would proabably just have one lying around, right?" despite the fact that every single version of the DS has had a different charger (At least in my experience owning an original, Lite, XL and 3 over the years) and nobody who bought a regular 3DS would consider "upgrading" to the XL right now.
Azure_Kite
I thought the DS Phat and Lite shared the same thin connector charger, and the DSi and 3DS share the slightly squarer one?
Ekaru
Original and Lite use different chargers, but the DSi and 3DS do share the same charger. But, I know quite a few people with a 3DS and none of them have a DSi.
Dieathan

Azure_Kite wrote:

I see what you did there. Damn posers...
Drakari_old
inb4 3DS XL actually needs a unique charger because the larger version with a larger battery needs a larger power supply for mysterious and impossible to predict reasons that probably have nothing to do with something like Nintendo being at fault...

Well anyway, tried KH 3D... Better than expected, but it didn't really grow on me. Neku is still great though.

Don't forget that the phat DS shared it's charger with the GBA SP.
NaomiMinette
So apparently the next Super Smash Bros. game will team up with NamcoBandai (or whatever they go by). Could that mean we'll be seeing characters from the games they made?
Azure_Kite
So, we could be looking at tales of graces characters and Donders from Taiko?
rust45
I highly doubt ToG characters will make it in. It was only on a Nintendo system in Japan and wouldn't be well known anywhere else. (Of course there was the Fire Emblem characters before) I would think if any tales characters would make it in, they would either be from Symphonia or Abyss, more likely than not Symphonia.
Pokebis
There will be Pac Man and that will be it.
NaomiMinette
I can already imagine Lloyd (from Symphonia) being in it (I blame Super Smash Flash 2 for that).
bomber34
I hope for anything but PacMan
Yeah it it seems obvious and he will be in the game. But I cannot imagine him as playable character ...

btw ... it is a bit late but i think the controls of Kid Icarus Uprising are horrible without CPP. But I won't buy a CPP for one game :/

PS: Does anyone care for the final fantasy ryhtm game: Theatrythm (I hope it is right, PAL name at least)
NaomiMinette
Oh what... an FF rhythm game? I MUST see that :D
Azure_Kite
Theatrhythm is pretty fun to play, especially on the harder difficulties, but I think it feels like something I'll finish once and never touch again.

What about Heroes of Ruin? That reminds me so much of TitanQuest and other similar RPGdungeoncrawlers it's not even funny.
Dieathan
Final Fantasy has always had good music and it feels really nice that they made a game that takes some of the best songs in the franchise together.

This is 25 years of music from one of gaming's biggest franchises we're talking about here.

True, but the gameplay consists of the tapping anywhere on the screen. we've already played more precise play in OTO, EBA and OTO2.

The only thing this has OTO doesn't is swipes and FF Music.
