Hello Dota players, Im actually LoL player. Can someone say me why should I change and play DoTa? THX for your time guys
Recommended items, for the most part are pretty accurate, there are a few exceptions for example, if a hero isn't recommended to buy a BKB, and you're fighting against a team with an SK or Enigma or some form of massive aoe, buying that BKB fairly quickly might be a wise idea no matter what hero you're playing. i would never ever recommend buying boots as a first item, huge sign of a player that doesn't know what he's doing, and the gain from those boots is extremely small, getting branches and appropriate amount of regen will keep your pressence in the lane much higher, i can only think of a few times where early boots pays off (trying to get first blood as jugg/CM for example).kanye west wrote:
I've played a few games and have a few questions.
How "good" are the recommended items? Is it better to start with a relatively expensive item (like boots) and one tango vs tango, salve, and branches?
Is smartcast the same in DOTA as in LoL?
Is early game generally the same as LoL (afk farm)?
What are some mid/lategame objectives besides towers/Roshan?
Is it better to focus on farming or ganking/killing heroes?
Is there some way to teleport to fountain instead of walking back and forth?
What's the most common/widely accepted metagame?
I think killing Roshan is very high risk/medium reward. Am I missing something?
Are the roles generally similar between DOTA/LoL? For example, does the support still get 0 CS and buy all the wards etc etc
tl;dr - I'm a noob at this game and am asking questions that are probably blatantly obvious to most of you
- Recommended items are pretty much good to go with. Some aren't but they'll be fine in low tier games.kanye west wrote:

If you mean invites, I still have 7 left (I thought they're common already, we have too many invites over here).. So yeah anyone who wants an invitation just tell me (send me a forum pm).Magicphoenix wrote:

Early: 3 sticks +1 of all atributesSoulclenz wrote:
My favorite is when SB's make mask of madness first item, personally.
That's a solid build for SB, however i personally prefer to get bkb mid over madness, it's just safer, unless you're 100% sure you wont get switched and focused when you pop your MoM.iMercurial wrote:

Good to hear, hopefully you haven't had a too bad experience with the community either, they tend to rage a lot at new players because the matchmaking is a bit screwed up right now.Mashley wrote:
I'm quite surprised how much I'm enjoying this game so far. I'd never played anything from this genre before and I didn't think it'd be my sort of game, but actually despite my horribleness at it I find it very enjoyable!
Mashley might be the first person I've seen that has enjoyed the game playing solo haha, most people can't stand solo queuing. Or are you playing with friends Mashley?Gabi wrote:

adding you. I typically play on US East, sometimes open US West if matchmaking is slowShinseinaTenshi wrote:
If anyone would like to party up sometimes in DOTA 2, would be awesome. I can play on US East & Europe (maybe even US West, I haven't tried though). I'm tired of solo queuing and ending up with a team that lacks communication between each other and running around like a bunch of headless chickens(I'm friendly, I don't bite ^^').
STEAM : LaoXing18 :3
That's why you should play Bloodline Champions!Jelly wrote:

Ah i see i see, i haven't had a chance to game with any TL players. Perhaps one day I'll check em out.yeahyeahyeahhh wrote:

For the love of god stay as far away as possible from them, you'll only get worse.Soulclenz wrote:

Is it worse than solo queing? because I am almost at the point where playing a solo game makes me want to pluck my own eyes from my skull. I don't really have a set group of people to inhouse with, used to play with IG Bdiz but he rage quit the game or something.Gabi wrote:

In 1 week when that shit becomes closed. ODL plays on USwest.
storm spirit is 0-10 because he was mid against me and had to switch lanes with viper, who should have been their mid in the first place loliMercurial wrote:

0-10? ahah dang, poor guy. Curious though, since a SS should be able to at least hold his own without death against a drow mid, especially at 6. Viper would probably be the better choice in the end though, yeah, even though a Drow and Viper going toe to toe with auto attacks would be very close.foulcoon wrote:

Being successful with Invoker is seriously NOTHING to be proud of.Magicphoenix wrote:

Sitting at 4,8/5 skill level with Invoker, not sure how accurate that is but still pretty proud about itwon 29/10 with him
2nd best is Pudge, 4,5/5 - 25/8 Win Lose
3rd Shadow Demon, 4,2/5 - 7/8 Win Lose
Well, rest of heroes is around 3-4 skill level, though every supporter of mine got -3 skill level LOL (xcept Maiden & WR)
I kind of disagree with that. I started playing with Sniper as my first hero, and was able to pull of a double kill on my first game as him.[AirCoN] wrote:
He is fun cause he requires a lot of skill to play, like abuse of mechanics, epic positioning, etc.
Oh all the times I've been hooked by that bastard...iDwarf wrote:

I dunno about Dota 2, I'm assuming it's about the same as Dota 1 in this aspect, so...Gabi wrote:

holy jesus christ you sound so bad.[AirCoN] wrote:
Voker isn't even imba, just that most players don't know what to do in situations against him.
seriously, most voker players use the shittiest combo alive, which is emp + tornado, and still rape the majority of pubs. Facepalm.
Venomancer is my most successful hero though, 7-1, lost once but that game was really, really, really close, went on for 60 minutes.
Huskar is my next successful hero, at 6-3.
All of the other heroes are either 2-0, 2-1, 2-2, 1-0, 1-1, 1-2, 0-1, 0-2. I play every hero in dota, so yea, I only ever counterpick when I want to win.
However, I feel that the funnest hero is actually sniper. I go Take aim + Headshot > Assasinate > Stats, since shrapnel is considered the worst spell. He is fun cause he requires a lot of skill to play, like abuse of mechanics, epic positioning, etc.
The funny thing is, I'm not bad. True, me saying invoker isn't imba or my sniper build is not "recommended" is highly debatable, however I am not bad.Mikey wrote:

invoker isnt imba? have you seen his lane presence? surely something that incredibly strong would have some form of weakness later on in the game? not invoker, and with his bulky stat gain he is not even squishy anymore, so sure you can silence him but hes not exactly like storm or clinkz in terms of being easy to pick off. he has 10 spells, and so many of them (coldsnap, tornado, sunstrike) are some of THE best spells in the game. he is simply too powerful, at all levels.
as for your sniper skill build, i thought it was a joke at first. the fact that you dont even get shrapnel is a joke. also, you should max range at early game, keeping headshot at level one, as the improvements are insignificant, and secondly max shrapnel. and no, despite how badly you want to convince yourself of this, sniper is not ranked as a skillful hero to play, infact he is one of the most notorious right clickers, all you need is a good mindset and positioning (stay back, fuck that sounds really hard)
