Translating the FAQ

I translated the FAQs into Italian in june, and they're in a topic in the Italian section of the forums. They're actually the translation of Osu!'s old FAQs, as they've been edited in these 6 months... so I guess I'll need to revise some parts and add some other. But anyway, the main things are already there.

How are we supposed to put the FAQs on the webiste? Will we be allowed to edit them directly in case the main FAQs are edited or something is added? It'd be really long and annoying if we had to call a MOD or peppy or anyone else every time we needed to edit smth or correct a mistake...

I could translate it into swedish but i don't think anyone would read it since 99% of the swedish people speak english fluently.

I can lend a hand here (while the other hand is clicking the beat ^^),
I can translated the FAQ into Indonesian (only if peppy allowed me to ^^), and it seems KcLKcL had already do the translation... but hey, help still needed right?

ps : how much time is given to us for translating the FAQ, is it forever or a month or so ?

とりあえず：
どうも、makafusiです、ええ、現状の日本語FAQの元になった文章を書いた人です。
これに気がついた時、すこぶるビックリしたぜ！！

いつのまにこんなものが完成したんだろうｗ
一定期間とはいえ、採用していただき、ありがとうございました。

あ、いや……でもこれ、こちらに連絡がまったくこなかったので、思いっきり無断転載ですよね！？
採用する前に一言だけでも連絡して頂ければ、もうちょっと僕の方も対応したのですが……。

しかし、僕の文章は、公式のFAQとしては、不適切な表現がたくさんあるのですが、本当にこれでいいのでしょうか？
しかもあんなに読みづらい文章そのままで、よく採用されたなー、と思いますよ、本当に。

僕の書いた文章が、他のプレイヤーの手助けになるなら、本当にうれしいです。
このFAQを元に、誰かが本当のFAQを書いたりするのかな？

メッセージありがとうございます。

勝手にmakafusiさんの書いた文章を使わせてすみませんでした。

実は、国語別のFAQが数日前に完成した制度です。テストとして日本語の説明を加えて見ました。
もちろん言ってることわかるし、僕も同意です。

日本人のプレイヤーはまだまだ少ないから、今の状態で良いと言っても過言ではないでしょうかね。
僕は開発で忙しくて忙しくて、書いてくれるボランティアーが見つけるまで、今のままの文章になると思います。

もし修正したいところがあるか、まだ書きたいことあったら、すぐmakafusiさんに編集許可をあげます。
ただ、興味がないとか、他のに忙しいならぜひ遠慮してくださいね :D

peppyさん、日本語上手ですねー。

えっと、編集のことなんですが、
今年はアルバイトを探したり、就職の進路を考えたりすることに集中したいので、
少なくとも今年の上半期は、osu!に関わることは無いと思います。

修正したいところも今のところないですし。

もしやるなら、他の方がFAQに掲載された僕の文章を元に、弄って、別のものに変えても構いません。
その場合は、こちらのサイトから公式のFAQへリンクさせて頂きます。

これからも影ながら応援させていただきます、がんばってください！

I will translate the FAQ into chinese if i have time. But sorry that I can't access to forum usually during the winter holiday :o ......So the plan may delay to Feb.14 that I can online usually.but i will try to translate some of it. :)

By the way, the translation should be in simplified Chinese or traditional Chinese? (I'm in Taiwan.)

Probably doesn't matter, as we can just run it through a parser to switch between traditional and simplified.

Yeah, I would be glad to help in the Brazilian Portuguese translation, too. I'll make sure people don't go overboard with all those mechanical-looking translations, aswell as make sure the FAQ remains as smooth, consistent and readable as the English one. Plus, yes, we actually have a lot of (somewhat troublesome) brazilian players, so making a portuguese FAQ is a great idea. Thanks in before!

I've started work on Section (5) - Editing. Translating to Japanese.

I'm really hoping to increase the quality maps that come from the Japanese osu! community (which is recently starting to increase slightly in numbers). It seems a number of Japanese users want to map, but don't quite understand the system or rules.. :?

So far, I've translated the Table of contents (目次) from the English FAQ, and I hope to completely translate section (5) of the FAQ involving the editing of beatmaps.

I went right ahead and submitted my table of contents.

Since the items are *very* terminology heavy (Beatmaps, Hitcircles, Spinners) I mainly re-wrote these as katakana. If you have any official translations you wish to be used for these game items, feel free to edit these terms and tell me what to use. I will keep these translations consistent throughout the rest of the translation.

Read the FAQ about writing up the FAQ, for the love of god. You don't need to "write" a table of contents.

Also if you understand how it's done and have soe time can you fix up what yamada has written too to follow the correct format? (or anyone else that has some time, really).

I fixed the Japanese FAQ. I also PM'd yamada with instructions about uploading FAQ pages. Hopefully the Japanese I write doesn't sound too awkward. :oops:

portuguese language have some differences betwen all of the 8 countries that speak the language

Hey, I can help to translate the FAQ into Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian).
Well... thought KcLKcL, Vieroz, kesadisan, -SiN-, and VanMoNky have joined the translation team,
I think it would be best if I join the crew (the more the merrier, right? That way, we can finish it quickly),
since I haven't found any FAQ in Bahasa Indonesia yet (I wonder how the progress goes).

So... peppy, for the sake of osu! grant me the power (access) to translate the FAQ.

I have some interests for translating FAQ in finnish, but I am just asking, that how accurate translates must be? From word to word, or just relaxing thought? "It means same thing, but with different words."

The overall message should be the same. Two people reading different translations should be able to discuss with each other in a third, common language the meaning of the entry.

I managed to introduce two of my friends to osu! today, and although quite fascinated by the game they seemed a little disappointed that a Korean version of the FAQ did not exist.

Therefore I suggest/volunteer strongly for the addition of "Korean" to the FAQ.

Are we, um, getting anywhere with this? With the Korean language I mean?

I could translate the whole thing on Word and present it to peppy before I receive the ok-call to write the FAQ on the site, I wouldn't mind

I just want '한국어' added in one of those languages, that's all.

Ask any BATs/GMTs(or some channel OPs, I don't know how many they could got that right) if you want some faqs added/modified.
