Cut down an mp3 and you still have to map full difficulty spread, extend an mp3 and you can get away with a single difficulty. There's a clear difference here.

Cut down mp3 to tv size, map 3/4 diffs -> 4:30-6:00 minutes.
Extend mp3 -> 5:00+ minutes.

I'd say it's about the same.

Eh, I wouldn't say it's abusing tbh. People make compilations of an artist with 20-30 seconds of a song but together into a 6-10 minute map. We could say that's abuse and that they should map every song, but we don't. It's kinda the same thing here.

It's just a sort of laziness and i don't really like it too, but i didn't see anywhere something like "don't copy paste a section of the music".
There are already maps like this, like ktgster's Salvation, or fanzhen's Seraphin...

I have to agree with Kyshiro here, it fits the criteria now, so what's exactly wrong with it? I never imagined extensions could affect the rankability. I find that absurd.

the issue is the implication that this creates. suddenly, wildly editing mp3's to fit the approval criteria is totally ok, and I can guarantee that it will be abused by others, especially with a member of the staff doing so openly. there's more to this than just your map being ranked

I don't see what's wrong with that at all, first of all, if the rules weren't so god damn strict there would be no need for an extension. Second, if the song wasn't extended, the map would've probably been abandoned due to lack of interest to map the lower difficulties. The song is now over 5 minutes and fits the criteria, what exactly is the problem?

Edit: Also the map is getting a lot of hate for apparently having too big jumps. 2 words, git gud. Honestly, if you can't play a map, don't bash it because you can't.
