Shana, you're really looking at this with a bad attitude. I can't speak for others, but I don't wish for you to stop making maps at all. I never said this map as a whole was bad, I'm saying that the patterns/fluency of the map could have used work. I mean, if anything, the song's intensity is conveyed kinda nicely.

I think people would have been a lot more respectful towards you had you said why you did things a certain way, as opposed to what you did in these comments, is all.

I don't get why you're confused about players who can do the map are complaining about the patterns. The quality of patterns doesn't only come down to whether they're doable or not. It's not that simple

Smooooch is an abomination. It got ranked because there was no qualification/dq process, so only a handful of people actually played it before it was ranked. Within days of it being ranked there were people asking why on earth it got ranked with those almost completely unreadable SVs. The game was MUCH smaller than it is now.

Heart of Witch is decent (although not one of Million's best imo), whilst Smooooch and Kamui were ranked at a time when us people who care much more about beatmap quality, necessarily in a stricter fashion, weren't around and quality was less cared for by the community. But with the exponential growth of the community, more people are going to play the map and more people are going to dislike the patterns that have unnecessary and completely unfair difficulty spikes.

Also, the beatmap being in a qualified state doesn't prevent its flaws from being spotted and commented upon. In fact, that's the whole point of a week's qualified state - so a greater amount of people can ensure that this beatmap is worthy of being ranked, and if not, then the mistakes will have a greater chance of being pointed out before it is too late.

P.S. - "hard" and "fun" are not synonymous.

Also, those maps are there and will stay there only because they've been ranked quite a long time ago. Given that maps like smooooch, Kamui, and Heart of Witch could be considered legacy maps of sorts. They've been around for quite some time, and well before the curve of quality for mapping had been truly established. Keep in mind that osu!mania's first innovation of the World Cup has a ton of auto-conversions and other files that weren't even exclusively made for the game -- this is telling of the game's infancy.

Users have time to help structure the content to be different from other games, but at the same time, they should at least try to adhere to basic standards of quality, and I personally feel like this map is not of that standard, especially coming from a BN. I know that is a bit harsh to say, but it is also my opinion and again, should be taken with a grain of salt.

So what you're saying is, if a map has the worst patterns imaginable, and someone happens to SS it, there's no reason to say that the patterns should be improved? Also if anyone is complaining, it's everyone who cannot accept constructive criticism on ways that the patterns can be improved, and they automatically assume that they have been insulted.

You're automatically blanketing StepMania players as the ones who are complaining, so let me go ahead and say that I've actually taken the time to improve myself as a player to handle osu!mania's differentiated mechanics, so we can diffuse that argument right there.

You're automatically assuming that the complaints have no merit and that players are just "whining" about patterns because they can't do them. I'll redirect you to my post against Shana's where I SS'd it by a substantial margin, and still chastised the pattern flow. I also offered constructive criticism saying where I thought things could have been improved. Not only was I basically ignored, but when I mentioned that Shana's attitude wasn't the greatest, he revoked/deleted an apology (and "changed his mind :3"), which really speaks a lot about his character.

If I were to take the time to mod this map, I guarantee you I could pull up a multitude of structural errors. Contrary to what some of you guys believe, but there are a LOT of players that have been playing very similar VSRGs for much longer than osu!mania has been around, and it's even more annoying that people are sitting here and calling legitimate concerns out as "complaints." Everyone needs to get thicker skin and grow up a bit!
