Hmm i'm not too sure if this is the right place to post something like this. If it's not someone lock this please.
As you all know there is a rule that two of the same songs cannot be in the qualified section at the same time.

What if:
One set is all Mania and the other set is all Standard?
One is full version and the other is short version?

Here's an example. t/258775/start=150
DJPop's is Mania only and this set is Standard only.

not sure, but in my opinion the full ver is a totally different song from a tv size, also I was thinking the same about different game modes of the same song being qualified at the same time.

hmm okay i agree with the full and tv size thing but. what if one is simply an unofficial cut size where the mapper cut the mp3 himself?

I remember a while ago with all the Startear maps there was this question asked about MMzz's full taiko set vs the current standard set being qualified. Hold on while I find them..

Ah here we go: p/3346697

I think it would be better to wait for the taiko set first that has been unqualified for minor issues, it seems unfair that it has to wait for two standard sets before a BAT is able to rerank it (which he already tried but there's the other qualified set now)
Two maps of the same song can be qualified during the same period if modes aren't the same. So no problem here cuz there is one full taiko and one full std.
Deif
It's possible to rank the same song in less than a week if both mapsets are from different game modes.

eg http://osu.ppy.sh/s/118690 got ranked right after UWS's version, which was a standard one.

oh okay,

can we get some clarification in the bat rules page thing then about this?

I remember asking Loctav (90% it was him) once about the TV Size / Full ver thingy and they said it would not be allowed to have both qualified at the same time.

yea. a clearly remember that we were not allowed to qualify this ignite https://osu.ppy.sh/s/190736 set untill frostmourne's https://osu.ppy.sh/s/209170 got ranked

It should be allowed to have the same song qualified the same time. Not sure why there would be any rule against it...? Can't someone just ask to make this 100% clarified?
Kurokami
At least allow it if the game modes are entirely different. For example in a case of taiko and mania, none of them can be converted into the other one.

Having more than one version ranked back to back is kinda blah - especially when it comes time for new anime openings/endings. I for one would not like to see a flood of the same song over and over again. If there are different modes, why not just consolidate the sets? No harm in doing that. Whats the problem with waiting a week anyway? Maybe you'll have a chance for more people to look at it and find issues or things to improve on.

I think peppy himself stated he'd not like to see more than one song within a week at a time. Remember no pain no game? All three were ranked back to back haha

Now I don't think this is an official rule of any kind, just one of those traditional "do not do"s. I'd be nice for some clarification though.

I definitely don't see the harm in different game modes getting ranked in the same week (one CtB and one taiko for example), but different versions of the same song (cuts/tv sizes/nightcore/speed up/etc) should have this 1 week wait. I don't really have an opinion on Hybrid sets though (ex. Standard with 2 Taiko diffs / Full Taiko set)

The only exception to the above should be Christmas/Monthly Beatmap Contest stuff as there are a lot of them to rank all at once and it's hard to rank 10 versions of Snow halation or Taylor Swift's Last Christmas in just a month.

Just my two cents. It's not answering the question though I guess.
Rakuen
My opinion is 1 week, 7 days is too long

Maybe we could shorten it into like 3 days or sort because now we have the qualified page (including all game modes, versions, and song length)

Consider the time when anime tv size songs are released, getting everything checked before going into Ranked page

Not clarification, just opinion

I'm gonna drop my way of thinking here..
When you don't like to see the same song ranked multiple times in a week don't play it, to put it simple. Give as a reason that you don't like to see that is a bad reason, especially when it's about different games modes talking to 2 or 3 whole different playerbases, depending which modes the song had been mapped for. It doesn't happen very often, and when there's some sort of hype about a song let it be and enjoy its fast ranking procedure together with the mappers/modders, as long as not all maps include the same modes. It's an exception and should be treaten as one (like Christmas songs for December, AoT hype in the past, No Pain No Game, etc, etc.)

Agree Rakuen 's thinking / Kibbleru / etc...
7 days so long.
Hope this rule can be changed in the future.

No need to differ between game modes. If a song is in qualified, no other set is allowed to be qualified during that time.
Why? Because we want song variety, offering players different songs in the qualified section and in the freshly ranked section.
Why 7 days? Because it's the time span of qualified to ranked.
Why not differ between game modes? Because there is only a limited amount of slots open. You can only qualify a specific amount of beatmaps per day. And tho there shall not be like 4 sets of the same song occupying like 50% of the day's slots.
Why not making it 3 days when sets are different game modes? Because this over complicates things. No need to make super complicated rules for such a single thing.

Moreover no one is gonna lose an arm or a leg if they get their set qualified a few days later. Whoever says different is not striving for quality but for speedranking anyways.
