First draft, will fix my incoherent rambling later Zoomer guide for 6 digits: Play more, play pp maps, play high star rating, enjoy game.
Guide on how to improve, applicable to 4–5 digits: Everything I will say below doesn't have to be followed to a tee, you can mix and match, change and adapt. If it works for you, then that's all I care about. DO NOT play when you feel pain. Strain is not pain and is good for you. Do stretching exercises to prevent RSI. Optional: Consume caffeine in any way, e.g. coffee. 1. Find the skill sets you enjoy playing, e.g. Speed, Streams, Finger control, Jumps. And focus on playing maps that have them. 2. Play high star rating maps that you can't/can barely pass in the skill set you want to improve in, don't be afraid to C rank or even D rank. 3. Play more, 1 hour minimum, try to play every day if you can. 4. Try to play maps you actively avoid, DO NOT say "I can't play it", you will never be able to play them unless you actually try. 5. Don't look at your old scores, they don't matter. Don't look at top50 leaderboards, they don't matter either. 6. If you're not enjoying the game, you should stop and rethink what you're doing and why. Don't give up, I believe in you. TLDR: Play more, don't overthink it. It is possible that even after following the advice you still won't be able to improve, in that case you either have a mental block or you're playing the game wrong in some way, but most likely you have a mental block, in which case you should believe in yourself and keep trying. Q/A:
Q: I think you're wrong A: Write to me what you think is wrong and why, I will consider changing my advice based on your feedback.
Q: Lmao this is all so obvious A: Yes.
Q: My old scores are better than my current scores! A: That might be true, so what? If you push yourself, you will get better, and you will surpass those scores.
Q: My mouse/tablet/keyboard/monitor/tapping technique/fps/cat holds me back A: 60 hz monitor, any mouse with decent sensor, any mechanical keyboard, at least stable 60 fps, and you can definitely easily reach 4 digits, probably 2–3 digits too. (I have 60hz TV SCREEN and a cheap G102 mouse)
Q: I can't stream 180 bpm, I'm genetically inferior A: Good news, you have a mental issue which is easy to fix, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. I was 4 digits and wasn't able to stream 180 bpm, you know what I did? Played stream stamina maps like dragonforce... ALL DAY FOR WEEKS. You know what happened? I actually was able to play 180 bpm, actually, i was able to play 190, 200, 210, 220, 230, 240 bpm.
Q: That's all great and all, but how do you know that it works? A: Try it.
Q: I don't want to play for pp, I just want to play for fun A: Great, everything I said should still work for you, please enjoy game.
Q: How do I learn HD? A: I played every single map with HD no matter how difficult it was with HD, uhm, that's it I guess. HD is mostly hard for cross-screen jumps, high spacing streams and high circle density, for jump farm DT/NM maps you should be able to learn it quickly.
Q: I don't want to play jump/speed/stamina/stream/finger control maps for pp! A: Don't play them then, find what you enjoy and farm it, or just enjoy the game.
Q: Why am I improving so slowly compared to others? A: Why does it matter? They're not you, they might play more, they might have better mental, they push their skill ceiling harder, they're not improving, and you just can't assess their skill accurately, etc.
Q: Should I be doing "automod"? A: Nah, waste of time.
Q: I have 99.99% acc why can't I improve??? A: Play anything above your skill, I beg you.
Q: Can I ask you a question? A: You can ask me any question in game.
Q: Person X says Y, but you're saying Z, why? A: Because we're different people with our own opinions on improvement, try both advice and see what actually works.
