Putin will annex Crimea, turn it into a quasi-independent state, and then nothing else will happen. Ukraine will most likely put up little/no resistance, Poland, Lithiania and the EU will not intervene because it would be really stupid for them to do so. No one wants a full-scale war over Crimea, not even Putin because he's not stupid.

Most of Crimea's population identifies as native Russian so there will be little to no civil resistance and then we pretend like nothing happened.

Another possibility is Russia pussying out and then we pretend like nothing happens anyway.

well good luck Sevastopol for becaming Ukraine's exclave..

Crimea is the home of Russian Western Naval Fleet. that would make sense to annex it.

I was watching the news and they were interviewing Crimean people; they are yelling off Ukrainians, NATO and the EU as fascists and nationalists.
I think some part of the USSR still remained intact in a certain Russian-dominated autonomous region of Ukraine.

1) crimea gets annected by russia and putin is happy and puts his schlong of the table

or

2) putin suddenly has a stroke/heartattack/reads 4chan and drops dead and somebody with less steel in his balls gets the power over russia.

since 2 is very unlikely to happen, it will probably end up being 1.

Except I don't think the USA+UN will let this situation in favor of Putin.
To be serious, it's scarring me a bit, may be the 3rd ww if something goes wrong.

I don't think he's in as large of a disposition as you think. If he places an embargo with countries willing to support Ukraine in this struggle he can still trade with China and maintain a certain financial level while most of Europe takes a HUGE economical hit which none of us want to have happen.
