[Archived] bancho authentication failed

when i try to login, i always get this message:
bancho authentication failed. please check your username/password by clicking the user pane on the main menu.
i am pretty sure that my username and password is correct.
but i cannot login to play multiplayer, check online scores etc.
however, i can play offline.
if i exit the login prompt, i can still play.
any suggestions as to what i can do?

i have read the solutions on the thread and i do not believe that my firewall has anything to do with the problem.
i am using windows 7 and i have tried logging out and then back in.
is the server down?

Please make sure you are typing the correct password, and that you do not have any weird characters in your username (such as spaces where they shouldn't be). Generally this should only happen if you actually got your login wrong.

i keep trying to login to play multiplayer but it says my name but my password is correct it says its wrong and it says my username is wrong to help me ppy plz
