Kantan

I'll leave most of the colour distribution for the recheck. However, I did notice that there's quite a bit of d k repetition in some sections (like the kiai), which isn't the most ideal in creating an interesting colour distribution, so try to change it to have a bit more variety. If you can't think of anything to change tho, I don't blame you since the colour distribution's pretty good rn.

00:08:513 - You could put a hit with a finisher here to match what you had at 00:04:149 (6,7) and to create a difficulty jump going into the next section.

00:08:922 - Felt like this section with the finishers could use a bit more rhythmic variety. There don't have to be any major additions, but perhaps you could add a hit at 00:17:376 to avoid that continuous D D D D.

00:26:376 (39,40,41,42,43) - This part should be a bit more interesting considering that there's much more going on here in the song than at the section 00:35:104 which is more dense.

00:27:467 (40,41,42) - Personally, I found that K d K would work better in this part to match the high vocal part. You also could prevent the forced variety between 00:26:376 (39) and 00:28:558 (41). Maybe even in the Futsuu, the finishers would work better as the other colour.

00:31:831 (45,46,47) - Could also be more dense here.

00:35:104 - This section could be a bit less dense in every difficulty (maybe not the Outer Oni), so that you can avoid having such a high 2/1 frequency in the Kantan and to also avoid ending up with weird rhythms like 00:36:604 (208,209) in the Oni.

00:52:558 - Kinda weird imo how the kiai ends here when it doesn't end at 01:01:285.

01:06:740 (36) - This hit is kinda lonely with the 4/1 surrounding it.

Futsuu

00:00:195 (1,2,3) - You could make this a bit denser since this is the exact same as the Kantan.

00:05:649 (13,14,15,16,17) - ^ For a better difficulty curve with the Muzu.

00:02:104 (5,6,7) - Don't think you should have 1/2 here; it's pretty similar to the Muzu so you can reduce it to 1/1.

00:06:195 (14,15) - Could be similar to 00:01:831 (4,5,6,7) as there's some similar instrumentals between the two.

00:25:831 (62,63) - Ctrl + G would sound nice here, like you had it in the Kantan.

I realize that placing stuff on the blue ticks isn't good at the Futsuu level, but it'll smooth out the difficulty gap between the Futsuu and Muzu.

00:50:922 (20,21,22,23,24) - I personally liked how you had it at 00:59:649 (50,51,52,53,54) cuz it's simpler and a bit less boring in the 1/1 part of the pattern.

01:05:650 (70,71,72,73) - Difficulty gap is too large between the Futsuu and Muzu here. Add some hits in this area. I'll also mention difficulty curve stuff in the Muzu.

01:11:104 (85,86,87,88) - This is denser than the Oni lel

01:20:240 - Add a hit here for a better difficulty curve with the Muzu, and in general the short portion of 01:19:831 (115,116,117) needs buffing in the Muzu and Oni.

01:22:013 (120,121,122,123,124) - I don't really like how the quiet instrumentals is the densest part of the bookmark section 01:20:922. I'd have the more complex rhythms in the louder parts like 01:20:922 (117,118,119,120). Same in Muzu.

01:34:013 - This last kiai is quite inconsistent with the 1/2 placement and the overall rhythm in comparison to the other three kiais. Now, the last kiai definitely has more going on in the background, but I don't think it means that you shouldn't match to the melody at places like 01:34:831 (163,164) and 01:39:195. This is just one example of how you could make it a bit more consistent with the previous kiais. Same in Muzu.

01:39:467 (179,180,181,182,183) - Could be a bit more difficult, considering this is the end of the last kiai. Adding one hit on any red tick in this rhythm other than 01:40:422 would work.

01:49:285 (202,203,204,205,206) - This isn't as complex as the Kantan.

Muzukashii

As Ozzy said, the Muzu is extremely difficult and creates a poor curve with the two neighbouring difficulties, the gap being too small between the Oni, and too big between the Futsuu. These are caused by frequent occurrences of 1/4 and long 1/2 rhythms. Will cover more specific stuff further down.

00:02:104 (10,11,12) - Inconsistent with 00:06:467 (28,29,30,31). Changing them to either rhythm works, just make them consistent.

00:07:422 - Wouldn't be bad to add a hit here for a slight difficulty increase.

00:17:649 - From this section on the difficulty curve is really bad and needs to be fixed.

00:18:740 (72,73,74,75,76,77,78,79) - The first place that should be fixed; the rhythm between the Muzu and Oni is basically the same, while the Futsuu just has a 2/1 rhythm. https://osu.ppy.sh/ss/6071078 A 1/2 rhythm of a slightly shorter length than the current rhythm would be more viable to create a better bridge between the Futsuu and Oni. Same at 00:23:104 (98,99,100,101,102,103,104,105).

00:19:831 (80,81,82,83,84,85,86,87,88,89) - Again, this is too similar to the Oni. A less dense option could be something like: https://osu.ppy.sh/ss/6071159
However, this is kinda different with the way you matched it to the instrumental foundation. 00:24:195 (105,106,107,108,109,110,111,112,113) is similar, but not as bad because there's no 1/4.

00:25:286 (113,114,115,116,117,118) - This is denser than the Oni.

00:27:058 (121,122,123) - Didn't really see a reason to use 1/4 here; you could make a 1/2 rhythm out of 00:26:649 (119,120,121,122,123).

00:27:468 (124,125,126) - If you're going to use 3/4 rhythms, make sure that you don't make the rhythm right after it too difficult. 00:28:013 (127,128,129,130,131,132,133,134,135,136,137,138) is way too long and the 1/4 just makes it even harder. I suggest deleting 00:28:422 (133). 00:28:558 (134,135,136,137,138,139,140,141) also doesn't make a good curve with the Futsuu, so you should make this slightly less denser.

00:30:263 (145,146) - Don't change the colour of 1/4 rhythms, especially after a confusing rhythm like 00:29:649 (142,143,144,145).

00:32:922 (162,163,164,165,166,167,168,169,170) - The rhythm here is exactly the same as the Oni; delete 00:33:331 (165).

00:38:785 (182,183,184) - No need for 1/4 in the quiet section of a Muzu imo.

00:15:058 (119,120,121,122) - You should keep this consistent with 00:10:695 (99,100,101,102,103).

00:43:695 (308) - Delete? I think that it'd help bring out the melody a bit better imo.

00:46:013 - The kiai is too easy. The section right after the kiai is harder imo. Ideally, the kiai should be more difficult than the non-kiai parts so try adding a bit more 1/4. I also found that it was similar in difficulty to the Oni. Now, the way you map the kiai is really good, so it's also possible to reduce the non-kiai's density a bit, but I'd still recommend making it harder because of the second reason. Same thing at the third kiai.

Outer Oni

Some parts were unnecessarily mapped in this diff imo.

00:03:672 (37) - Could be deleted, but this isn't what I was talking about when I said "unnecessarily mapped" earlier.

00:06:467 (68,69,70,71) - You should somehow modify the colours of this stream so that these four hits are ks. It sounds much better if you have it like 00:02:104 (20,21,22,23,24).

00:07:831 (88,89,90,91,92,93,94) - This doesn't need to be 1/4. It can simply be 1/2 k d d k.

00:08:376 (95) - No sound here, so I don't think you should have a hit here.

00:25:831 (235,236,237) - This 1/4 felt really sudden amidst the 1/2. I'd just keep this whole thing 1/2.

00:27:331 - You can add a hit here; 1/1 here felt abrupt because of the stuff that's going on in the background.

00:34:285 (328,329,330,331,332) - I personally wouldn't use 1/4 here, and a simple 1/2 could tone it down going into the quiet section. Same at 01:19:967 (369,370,371,372,373,374,375,376).

00:47:376 (20,21,22) - In the Taikocalypse difficulty (when it existed), I really liked the effect Backfire created with 1/6 here. It creates a new, challenging rhythm for Inner Oni; this is also a good alternative to create an expert difficulty instead of always using 1/4 streams. Would also create a bigger gap between the Oni. Same at similar places.

01:04:558 (203,204,205,206,207,208,209,210,211,212,213,214,215) - I personally felt like most of the long streams were forced for difficulty in the kiai after-section. For example, 01:04:831 (207,208,209,210,211) could be reduced to 1/2 imo. Same at similar places such as 01:08:922 (246,247,248,249,250,251,252,253,254,255,256,257,258).

01:38:240 (158) - Would sound better as a d to emphasize the twinkle sound at 01:38:104 (157).

00:27:467 (40,41,42) - Personally, I found that K d K would work better in this part to match the high vocal part. You also could prevent the forced variety between 00:26:376 (39) and 00:28:558 (41). Maybe even in the Futsuu, the finishers would work better as the other colour. Changed.

00:31:831 (45,46,47) - Could also be more dense here. Added some d's where the vocal sped up.

00:35:104 - This section could be a bit less dense in every difficulty (maybe not the Outer Oni), so that you can avoid having such a high 2/1 frequency in the Kantan and to also avoid ending up with weird rhythms like 00:36:604 (208,209) in the Oni. Honestly, I think this slow section is perfectly fine, as is. There's a relatively good curve for each difficulty here.

00:52:558 - Kinda weird imo how the kiai ends here when it doesn't end at 01:01:285. The second kiai doesn't have a kiai after it. So it's to emphasize the fact that it's the last one. ;w;

01:06:740 (36) - This hit is kinda lonely with the 4/1 surrounding it. Tbh, it's midvocal phrase, so the spacing is justified in terms of what could be followed. Because if I were to add a note to one side, why not the other? Because the vocal is still occurring in both instances. I'll see if adding a d for the higher sound after this works though.

Futsuu

00:00:195 (1,2,3) - You could make this a bit denser since this is the exact same as the Kantan. Added a couple notes.

00:05:649 (13,14,15,16,17) - ^ For a better difficulty curve with the Muzu. Changed.

01:34:013 - This last kiai is quite inconsistent with the 1/2 placement and the overall rhythm in comparison to the other three kiais. Now, the last kiai definitely has more going on in the background, but I don't think it means that you shouldn't match to the melody at places like 01:34:831 (163,164) and 01:39:195. This is just one example of how you could make it a bit more consistent with the previous kiais. Same in Muzu. The melody isn't what's being followed in the last kiai though. It's the faster sound in the background that's only in this kiai.

01:39:467 (179,180,181,182,183) - Could be a bit more difficult, considering this is the end of the last kiai. Adding one hit on any red tick in this rhythm other than 01:40:422 would work. Added a note at the first red tick in this section.

01:49:285 (202,203,204,205,206) - This isn't as complex as the Kantan. ??? Kantan's is easier.

Muzukashii

00:02:104 (10,11,12) - Inconsistent with 00:06:467 (28,29,30,31). Changing them to either rhythm works, just make them consistent. They were purposely made different to show the differences between the two sections.

00:07:422 - Wouldn't be bad to add a hit here for a slight difficulty increase. tfw you said it's too difficult as is.

00:17:649 - From this section on the difficulty curve is really bad and needs to be fixed. Okay.

00:18:740 (72,73,74,75,76,77,78,79) - The first place that should be fixed; the rhythm between the Muzu and Oni is basically the same, while the Futsuu just has a 2/1 rhythm. https://osu.ppy.sh/ss/6071078 A 1/2 rhythm of a slightly shorter length than the current rhythm would be more viable to create a better bridge between the Futsuu and Oni. Same at 00:23:104 (98,99,100,101,102,103,104,105). Changed.

00:27:058 (121,122,123) - Didn't really see a reason to use 1/4 here; you could make a 1/2 rhythm out of 00:26:649 (119,120,121,122,123). The vocal was increasing, so that's a justification. But changed it to match with the surrounding patterns.

00:27:468 (124,125,126) - If you're going to use 3/4 rhythms, make sure that you don't make the rhythm right after it too difficult. 00:28:013 (127,128,129,130,131,132,133,134,135,136,137,138) is way too long and the 1/4 just makes it even harder. I suggest deleting 00:28:422 (133). 00:28:558 (134,135,136,137,138,139,140,141) also doesn't make a good curve with the Futsuu, so you should make this slightly less denser. Changed some stuff here.

00:30:263 (145,146) - Don't change the colour of 1/4 rhythms, especially after a confusing rhythm like 00:29:649 (142,143,144,145). I actually really don't want this pattern to change. Because dd feels really uncomfortable here. dk flows a lot better. ;w;

00:32:922 (162,163,164,165,166,167,168,169,170) - The rhythm here is exactly the same as the Oni; delete 00:33:331 (165). The pattern isn't the exact same. I'd like to keep this consistent with 00:32:922 -

@Jon: For Kantan, the only thing I might apply would adding a note at 00:30:467 - , but even then, it could be confusing because of the stronger vocal at 00:30:604 - , which was mapped to in every other difficulty. I rejected most of your consistency points, because the colors stayed the same, but not the exact pattern, due to what came after them, so it wasn't too dense / confusing for a newer player. As well as the fact that the kiai should be a taaaaaaaad bit harder than the rest of the map, especially with how easy it is here.

For now: No change.

Futsuu, wanted some variation between the patterns, but adding a note there doesn't hurt anything.

So: Added a k at 00:05:104 - .

Muzukashii, wanted variation in the opening, since it repeats a lot. Having everything the same there would make it pretty boring. As well as the fact that some of your changes were suggesting to ignore the kicks, which I didn't want to do. Also didn't agree with your pitch changes, since it's opposite of what the song provides.

Applied: Removing a couple notes in the kiais.

Oni, like in Muzukashii, I don't want to ignore the kicks, or have everything completely the same in the opening, due to the repetition. As well as the fact that I don't want to make the doubles triples, because it would remove the emphasis of the voice clip(s) that the doubles were following. 00:49:831 - Keeping this as kdddk to be simple. ddkdk or ddkkk is hard for an Oni, especially when it's mainly triples, I don't want to break spread with Muzukashii over that. Don't agree with the finishers or pitch changes just like in Muzukashii, especially in the last kiai. Rather than following the melody, I'm following the speeding up and slowing down finishes in the background, since this is the only time that they occur.

So: Didn't apply anything here.

Some notes are unsnapped, fix them. (Just go on 1/12 tick and then 'Resnap all Notes' just in case since some notes are off for 1ms)
00:35:104 - you have two green lines here, I assume you should remove the 0.75x because 0.80x fits better for the SV decrease.

So you were asking me via Discord if 00:48:195 - 00:56:922 - or 00:56:922 - 01:03:467 - sounds better and I've got to say that 00:48:195 - 00:56:922 - sounds much smoother and natural to play. 00:56:922 - 01:03:467 - looks really forced with the stream, it's not necessarily bad but I don't really like it. So yeap, that's my opinion.

I've spoke with Ayyri via Discord about the rest of the set and the following points were mentioned:

-) Personally I'd said that Oni may be nerfed to fit better with the spread while Ayyri find that it is (with Outer Oni) the most stable difficulties. Concluding that I accepted this.

-) While she thinks Muzukashii could be buffed, I explained that it's not really required since Muzukashii provides longer Combos, Triplets and even Doublets which really doesn't require any buffing. That'd mean to change Futsuu (and Kantan therefore) to make the spread suitable - which means to make them unnecessary harder than needed. However, maybe Muzukashii could be nerfed slightly? I'd really consider this instead.

-) Decided not to make a in-depth mod because objectively said there aren't a lot of stuff which I would change. It looks kinda pointless to force things when it's not required. Plus, the mapset looks ready for the biggest part which only requires some fine-tuning by some more experienced mappers (in the best case, by BNs).

May sounds like a poor excuse but I neither want to waste mapper's time to read through the post to be honest.

@strickluke: Kantan, didn't accept any of the suggestions here, since they were either removing the emphasis of the sounds that the notes were currently following, or were shortening the held out sounds. (Also breaking consistency with all of my other difficulties, in some cases.)

Futsuu, accepted the kkk suggestion, since it makes the pattern a bit more simple. But the other ones made the patterns a bit oddly spaced / not fitting to the music for newer players. And the finishers are different for the lower difficulties because there isn't one for each sound, due to difficulty constraints. ):

Muzukashii, didn't accept any suggestions here either. Because it made the currently already pretty short patterns, a bit too short for what the spread / song is providing. Moreover, made the existing patterns awkward to play, kind of like what was said for Futsuu.

Oni, like in Muzukashii and Kantan, I didn't accept anything here. Because the notes you were suggestion to be deleted were the higher parts of the pattern, and would sound really weird as a break. Moreover, most of the timestamps that you wanted me to change to a different color were already that color? I don't get that. lol

Sorry for rejecting nearly everything, but thank you for the mod!

Update: TRICKL4SH 220 was announced for SOUND VOLTEX IV HEAVENLY HAVEN, so that will be added to the source field.
