Tips/suggestions for my first thumbnail design?

It actually took me a decent amount of time as I am still figuring out GIMP.
The one thing I was thinking of adding was a glow/gradient on the box outlines, but I don't know if that would be overdoing it.

maybe use 
[img][/img]
tags to show image directly instead of linking to a post that has the image?
