On Windows Media Player, it rips all the songs in to WMA's instead of MP3's. Could somebody help?

Where can I find a free one?

Exact Audio Copy is a much more accurate ripper than WMP, and can save audio tracks as MP3 files. If you'd rather use WMP, though, I'd suggest using SUPER to convert the songs to MP3's.

Labyrinth walkthrough for SUPER's webpage: "Start Downloading SUPER" at the bottom, "download and use" below the part with the red border, and finally "Download SUPER © setup file" at the bottom.

Thanks, but it's complicated. How in the world do I use it?

Without the right plugins you're still stuck with .wma format - the only thing you can change is the bitrate. Which is why I'm grabbing this EAC program. It'll be nice when I get that surround sound system in.

I just found out something epic.
Since WMP8, MP3 ripping has been possible, but it's just restricted.
To remove the restriction you need to go into C:\Windows or C:\WINNT and delete the folder named "System32".

Funny, I've been able to rip to mp3 using windows media player, without having done anything intentionally... possibly because I got that LAME encoder for Audacity? All the MB20 mp3s were ripped using windows media player.

That's almost as bad as telling people that Alt + F4 fixes all problems.

Where's the Alt + F4 in life...?

AlT + F4! ALT + F4!!

Seriously now, it probably was the LAME Encoder from Audacity that provided the support. In My opinion Microsoft really should support MP3 encoding rather than use their own proprietary system. MP3's are more popular (just search, the internet)
and they have better sound quality.
