After having moved from my loved G9x to the amazing M.M.O.7 i have suffered an insanely high skill drop. I think it is because i am not used to it or something like that, well.
My dpi config is:
- 4300 on G9
- 5000 on M.M.O. 7
I had rised my dpi before (from 2300 to 4300 on g9 is steps of 200) with not a high skill drop.

So I want to ask mouse users their mouse and dpi config in order to learn a bit from it.
Please post them if you want to contribute, thanks. i will also thank any opinion about my config.

yeah, that's just how it is. you'll just have to get used to it :P

Well thats two problems already, high dpi and overpriced "gaming" mice.

i used to use 2500 dpi, now using 700 and i improved drastically.

^ these two statements this pretty much explain everything

but yeah, the lower sensitivity you use, the better. that being said, IE 3.0 is pretty amazing for osu!
most of these uber gaming mouses has a lot of additions but a shitty sensor, and a great sensor is what is REALLY necessary for playing with a mouse

Dear lord go get a better mouse, as in mouse with proper sensor that is half the price of that overpriced piece of trash.

Also

And inb4 lol mentioning tablet in this thread
Zare
olololol, my mouse looks like a transformer, it must be awesome \o\

get a Logitech G400 or G5 or something like that. (Alternatively, a razer mouse is probably good as well, but afaik most are rather expensive..)
use 800 dpi or lower
Practice.
Frizz
And the most important thing is not to spend some extra $$$ for a gaming mouse that has insanely high sensitivity and all that nifty features these mice have these days. All of these "high-end" gaming mice are overpriced. Both of their performance in the "field" and durability are no better than other gaming mice that are half of their price. As a matter fact newer gaming mice these days tend to break more often.

Conclusion: higher dpi, more features, higher price =/= better mouse, optical sensor > laser sensor
Trust me, you don't need insanely high dpi to be a pro. As a matter fact, professional gamers of any kind including osu! use lower dpi (ranging from 450dpi~1800dpi).
DaddyCoolVipper
Jesus christ, why'd you buy that mouse? It's awful, get a Logitech G5/G500

low dpi?
I've been rising it. Why do you like the low one?

Low is more precise, if you want pinpoint accuracy you have to move your hand more.

Wrong forum, I think there is already a thread about this in Gameplay and Rankings.

I had not seen that the first time.
How are they better?
I have always understood the opposite

It is true that while i have improved the performance in other games osu! performance has been completely ruined with my change of mouse, hmmmm.

I like mouse mroe than tablet, even knowing they are superior: I think it would not feel the same ( drawing the line would be completely different than moving over it)
those
No they are not superior lol

You think laser is more precise and better than optical in general? Wrong. It's all just marketing gimmicks done by those gaming peripheral companies so people would think that laser sensors have better precision over optical ones, and thus people would spend more money on laser mice.

Laser sensors tend to spazz out if you move them too quickly and malfunction such as cursor acting weird if dust gets into them. Another thing is laser sensor has acceleration especially on cloth pads. If you think higher dpi equals better precision then you're wrong. As a matter fact high dpi setting may detect movement when there is none. I myself have tried several laser gaming mice and I can tell you that they're no better than optical gaming mice.

Mind you, most of the optical sensors don't have these kind of issues. Try to get something like Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, Logitech G400, Razer Abyssus, or Razer DeathAdder instead. They have the most flawless sensors.

So lets see if i have understood it well.

dpi moves between precision and speed
low------------high
precise-------fast
bigger area-------smaller area
and that it is the hand the one that adds what the mouse lacks (so as i use high dpi i would be precise and slow and as pros use low dpi they would be fast and not precise)
Also optical mice are better than laser mice because they lack issues that reduce precision ( i have also seen how laser mice detect movement when there's no movement; or maybe the movement is so small to be seen with our eyes)

So what i learn from this is that here in osu! comunity mouse precision is more valuable than its speed so users can accurately make their hands be faster with practice and not really precise because their mice is so precise that i don't need it.

In the end i think that what i should do is to reduce dpi but not reaching 800, maybe a 2900 dpi would fit me.
I have also discovered that the same dpi ammount on mmo7 is quite faster than on G9 and maybe that is what i am doing wrong (taking the same number)
Optical mouse? i think laser is better because they were released in seccond place and because i find a concentrated light beam more trustable than just a beam (but knowing about those issues now i al starting to think that optical may not be as bad as i thought before and to understand why i can now seee hybrid mice)

Oh, i did not say it before, my osu! sensibility setting is 1 (so the cursor moves exactly the same outside osu!)

PS: This new gaming mice? they are of course not made for osu! :( but they are made for WoW and MW3. Games i don't play lol, but i find these new mice handy on certain games/programs.

Gaming mice are pretty useful for osu! as it requires fast but precise movement, which is as useful in osu! as it is in a game like Quake. But yeah, low dpi is best because it is a lot easier to be precise, and lets you focus on speed more.

Low is axiomatically less precise. DPI != sensitivity.
That said, this game doesn't need any more DPI than 400 since you're not sniping soldiers 30 miles away.
Vext_old
I hit mine with a hammer, because I don't use it.
Sleep Powder
I stroke my mouse until the cursor comes on top of the hitcircle.

before i started playing osu! with tablet, i used G9 with max dpi.
i still sometimes play it with mouse but i don't use max dpi anymore
with mouse, i can go over 470 SPM :3

That's with G9 i supose.

The solution i find is: to use G9 for osu and MMO7 for the rest
Lou-kun
Well,

I USE IT FOR:

Osu Standard, Clicking circles and bleh leh eh e.e

And for ctb (SOMETIMES) Using it for dashing x3
zertap
imo you should just start reducing the dpi slowly, the same way you rose it.
I myself used Logitech G700 @ 1700dpi
And it is true the lower the dpi, the better the accuracy. But there is some things which go better with higher dpi, like spinners. Also jumps, but you can get used to jumps with lower dpi, it just takes time.

Also make sure you have your mouse sensetivy from windows settings set to 6/11 and osu 1x so they wont derp up anything (:
Kanye West
I actually think spinners are easier with low dpi. It lets you spin in a much more controlled circle and even with 400 dpi, it's still possible to spin 460-470.
Blaziken
You spent money the MMO 7.
When you could of divided that cost by 0 and got dis.
