My Tips for osu!'s Just For Fun mode!

Hello guys i'm a semi-pro player of beatmaniaIIDX, DJMAX, old o2Jam, and I just tried the Just For Fun mode thanks to a private source.
I would like to give you, peppy, some tips about it, I hope you'll read this thread because there are lots of things to fix. I know it's still
on beta version but i'll tell you what's "wrong" :-)

- Blue color means semi-important.

- Red color means really important.

Keys:

- Basically there are different styles of using keys. When you play 6K, usually the most used keys configuration is " S D F - J K L ". So just seeing them there are six keys, and you can simple colour them by using White and Blue.

- You should make a particular section in the options menu: when you go to the "Input" tab, you should be able to set keys for each mode: 4K, 5K, 6K, 7K. Because when you're going to play online, if you're not used to the "A" key, you will get a lot of miss.

Gameplay:

- Gameplay it's almost fine, but you should make an entire gear ( the gear is the part where you receive notes. Ex: http://puu.sh/KLn5 ) by putting it a little bit up. Seems that i'm playing on a cut gear :|

- Hold notes should have a limit. What I mean is that when you pick a hold note you get a specific range for playing it: http://puu.sh/KLqa - watch this screen; there is a specific range for picking and RELEASING the note by getting 300 points, another range for picking and relasing the note by getting 100 points, the other part is just MISS. Also please, you should draw in the hold note, a little line which points out the start and the ending of a hold note, watch point 2 of the screen.

- Beatmaps shouldn't be generated random. Imagine a player of beatmaniaIIDX like me, playing a song of level 12 ( maximum level for that game ) that is generated automatically. Basically it would mean that something like this could generate really stressful combos, and it could repeat the same thing for the whole song. Take for exemple a combo like this one, | - - . . . . | ( - = notes, . = free space ), initially it wouldn't change too much if sometimes it appears, but repeating it 30 times in 1 minute it's really, REALLY painful. So please, make an editor just for this mod.

- Add a dissolve effect to the keys lightning.

At the moment this are my opinions, I hope you'll do great peppy, keep up the good work, maybe one day this mod will even surpass taiko and CTB :)

Yes, in the BETA version it's already possible to play and give advices in the forums how to make it better.
Anyway, I'm still on the install =w=

Ok fine. I tried it now, though for me already an easy Diff is hard to play.
It seems like the speed of the rhythm paths depends on the BPM of the song. That means: I wouldn't focus on the main difficulty.

Anyway... What I don't like about the mod: The Graphics are kinda low right now. Is there any possibility to set it higher? And maybe more graphical effects? It is still a bit monotonous.
And yes: I can only recommend an editor for this mode. Some songs are still just a finger-pain. I think it's a funny mode but you need A LOT practice for it.

What I like: It's challenging, a bit similar to Taiko....pressing the keyboard buttons on the right time and such. It's also a very rhythmic mod.

What I'd like to add: Maybe some colorful effects on the bottom part... Always when you reach a combo of 50,100,150,200,... and so on.

I'm kinda excited how that mode will be griped by other players.

none of this made any sense at all

Hi lyby :)

Sorry for my english but it's not perfect, i'm not from england or america :)

Anyway, I played the osu!Beta 1.2.9 and from what I played, I wrote those tips.
In the beta version that I got, keys are coloured White, blue, and orange :).

I thought there wasn't supposed to be any topics on this?

I have no idea what osu!Beta 1.2.9 is but please do not discuss this here. If you would like to provide input on the new beatmania style mode, please see the announcement thread on the test server.
