Add a difficulty to someone else's beatmap?

Can I add a difficulty level to someone else's beatmap? Or is that taboo/not allowed/not possible?

Ex. someone made a map with 2*, I wanna map it again but with 1*, but the 1* should come with the 2*, ya know? It shouldn't be, like, completely seperate.

You can ask the mapper if they want to include your difficulty as a guest difficulty.

If that fails, you can always upload the difficulty yourself and link their mapset in the description
