I'll go ahead and say strategy, since Starcraft is so awesome. I'm actually about 50/50 split between FPS and RTS. That's what makes Natural Selection so orgasmic.

I'm not a fan of FPS games myself, however, the Valve games are, in my opinion, the best PC games ever made. I'm more of an Action a la DMC or RPG person myself, with a side order of Starcraft. It really is an RTS of its own.
I voted for "others" as I think a good RPG is awesome.
But it needs to be 128 hours long, not including side quests.
Shooters are good, too, though.
I think Halo is awesome, but that's my own personal opinion. I don't like to lump myself in with the fanboys and haters.

I'm a Halohater for fun on occasion. Halo wouldn't have so much hate for it if it wasn't so overhyped, though. It's just..nothing extraordinary. Halo3's graphics are impressive, though.
