Self explanatory thread, if you know of a good flick, or just recently watched something that blew your mind, then why not share it.

Feel free to make top5's and whatnot, but keep it moderately elaborative, don't just throw out the title and "it was good", but don't spoil it all either.

Preferably no anime series, full lenght movies are fine.

List of personal recommendations.

Trainspotting (1996)

Both hilarious and captivating movie about a group of Scottish heroin junkies, who are trying to get clean, but end up in a big of a mess. Its a drama with a big and really good twist of humor and hilarious satire to it. I would watch this movie with anyone who has a decent sense of amusement, solely for the comedy aspect, but its a great movie other then that too. My top favorite of all times.

Pulp Fiction (1994)

If you haven't seen it yet, then you should be ashamed of yourself. Its right out one of the best movies ever made, both really funny and really interesting, a bit odd, but that just makes it better. I guess you could call it a comedy drama/action flick, as it did make me giggle on several occasions. I highly doubt that anyone who's actually seen it will disagree with that its a must watch, so I won't go into details on the plot itself. Do watch.

Enter the Void (2009)

Really slow, alternative, but amazingly shot and processed movie. A masterpiece for the one with an odd taste, but a good drama for those who just want to watch something emotional. If you can bare with the somewhat slow and dragged out CGI and really long scenes, then give it a shot. Its an amazing movie. Story is about this one guy who got interested in death and the theory about re-incarnation from this one book he got from a friend, goes out to sell DMT to another guy, gets shot and experiences said theory. Well, I think at least.
I liked it. A lot of my friends liked it. You most likely will too.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Undoubtedly one of the more satirically humorous movies, everything about it was great, constantly keeping a tempo and still being original and really funny. Oh and Johnny Depp, who doesn't like that guy. tl;dr drugs and violence but in a funny and not overly cliché sort of way. 10/10 would watch again.

V these two are moreso placeholders due to a case of memory loss at the moment, to be replaced later on I guess
SPOILER
Requiem for a Dream (2000) (I watched the directors cut)

Grungy and odd, somewhat alternative movie about various drugs and illegal ways to obtain money, and also what an addiction can do to you. The very ending was less then I wanted it to be, but that doesn't make it less watchworthy. How its cut is the main reason to watch it, as in, its fucking great. Story was not so much, but the visuals were amazing. If you like drama flicks about drugs, then do watch.

I wasn't quite sure of what to add as a fifth, as I got a whole load more to suggest, but temporarily or not, I'll add

Snatch (2000)

An action/thriller with a bit of satiric humor to it. The movie is fast and really elaborative story wise, and I doubt that anyone who doesn't like action movies wont like it. I think elaborating on the plot too much would spoil it completely, but once again, anyone who has seen it, who likes the genre, wont disagree with that its one of the better in its genre.

To be continued.

With all of that said, post and recommend away. Best regards, boat.

-Scott pilgrim vs the world(2010).

The third movie of edgar wright, based on the comic; the best starting 35 min. i ever seen. Simple SFX but waaay efective, 3d intention whitout bieng shot in it (which makes it better = scene when scott fights the doubles of lucas lee)..... and a lot of refferences about the comic inspiration: 8bits, arcade videogame culture (zelda, sonic, tmnt2,etc..)

In this movie edgar wright goes forward and improves is "signature resources" using them more an adding news : split screen to make look like a comic. Using more the night/day shot in shaun and the sound for emotion that is in hot fuzz, it's a trend that wright improves a lot with every movie and also this one could be a masterpiece, from someone whos know as the ultimate fanboy and fond for refferences.

Resuming: A action romantic-comedy in a sci-fi enviroment with glimpses of a musical = awesome way to explore relantionships.
With a lot of well done characters and literally making the comic move.

-Hot Fuzz(2007).

The second movie of edgar wright after sahun of the dead and before scott pilgrim, co-writed between wright and simon pegg.
The story of a policeman who goes a town where nothing bad happens and bad thinggs start to happen, again; refferences being the most important the fact of this movie is based on the plot of 'point break'.

Edgar wright and simon pegg write everything the're involved and these guys humor is near in some way to monty python.

If you like movies where the comedy isn't cheap and brain numbing and where the characters evolve across the movie; if you hate the michael bay logic in a movie, give hot fuzz a chance.

-Cowboy Bebpop - the movie.

-I saw the devil:

Damn..... this is good, the first scene is longer than expected.
It's not violent ; it's explicit but not gore (at least not the one that makes you laugh), the gore become grotesque because this movie is not about violence it's about the story of one detective that cross the line and becomes the hunter searching the murder of his girlfriend who is not only savage he's is smart.

The history, the argument makes this movie one of the best and the violence on it grows because is not cheap it driven for the script, which makes it hardcore but the violence is the last thing that you going to remember; a movie with poetic moment (at the very end).

WARNING: this movie does not a happy "ending" and you don't feel happy after seein' it.

I can't remember more.......

All of the cube movies were so halfassedly made, but yet really good.

I liked the first one far more tho. The acting in hypercube was worse then in the first one, and the grungy theme was far better.

How dark and creepy the rooms were added so much to what actually is quite bad.

I also watched 2001: A Space Odyssey a little while ago, and what can I say, it blew my mind. So many breathtaking shots one after the other, coupled with Stanley Kubrik's directing and classical music. Easily one of the best movies I've seen in terms of quality.

Some other movies I've watched recently:

Primer (had to search up a timeline for all the stuff that happened holy crap)
Being John Malkovich (interesting movie)
Snatch. (Frickin' awesome.)
Jacob's Ladder (...。_。)
This is Spinal Tap (funniest movie i've seen.)

Attack the Block (2011, comedy/horror/sci-fi)

Millennium Actress (2001, animation/drama/romance)
Moulin Rouge! (2001, drama/musical/romance)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998, adventure/drama)

A few good short films:
Our Time Is Up (2004) - Oscar nominated short film, I enjoyed it.
The Tonto Woman (2008) - I didn't really expect a whole lot from it since I'm not a big fan of the old western themed stuff, but this was pretty good.

Short films are movies too :)

I suppose a bump is fair enough?

The Hunger Games, yes, I did take my time bothering through this expected failure of a franchise. Long story short battle royale but with less life and feeling to it, depending on personal tastes maybe "prettier".

I guess its not that bad if you haven't seen battle royale, certainly both are major flaws considering how much better the idea itself could have been used, but either way I suppose neither are too horrible. Two geese out of five, for not being an unbearable piece of shit and having a pretty main actress.

Two geese translates into not great but ok. Watch this with your friends who have shitty taste in entertainment or if you're sleep deprived and wont even care for whats played on the screen.

Oh and, suggest me a movie that will blow my mind and I'll buy you a month of supporter, not kidding. I have so much time to kill, but don't got shit to do. Entertain me.

Zack777 wrote:

[b]-Summer Wars (2009)
This is actually not that bad considering what it is. Its cozy and lovable, not entirely within my tastes, but its certainly perfectly fine, especially to watch with a friend or in lack of something else, and for the public its most likely aimed towards its more than great. Gets really fucking annoying towards the end, but hey, not only is it japanese, but most movie do too.

Zack777 wrote:

Spirited away and the rest of the Miyazaki movies are a granted. I don't even think they even need to be suggested.

Eyes Wide Shut (nsfw)

These are actually awesome movies that are not blatant. If you haven't seen at least one of them, ater watching your mind should be pretty much blown from twists in the plot.
