Okay, so this anime, based on the japanese female idol group AKB48 (I'm guessing), came out recently. What are your thoughts on it? Personally I was expecting something better, but I'm not sure what are the opinions of it from other people; as one of the most looked-forward-to animes of this season, I certainly don't feel that its of high enough standard.

Another idol group-based anime? And Satelight's doing it? Might end up watching it, but then again, Natsuiro Kiseki is mediocre at best and ICE (the last AKB48 anime) was atrocious, so...

Lol, there's a common mix-up between AKB49 - RENAI KINSHI JOUREI MANGA and AKB0048. Personally I find RENAI KINSHI much more amusing, unfortunely it has yet to get an anime. (Just thought that I'd clarify)

At the start of the 21st century, an interplanetary war broke out. Earth's ecosystem was damaged, and humanity was forced to flee the planet. In this new society, things that "disturb the heart" like music and art are forbidden. 48 years later, a legendary idol group is resurrected as AKB0048. Labeled as terrorists, they must take up arms to defend their careers and their fans.
I'm not weeaboo enough for this. The fanbase for it is pretty rabid though. I remember reading somewhere that 2 fans bought thousands of character CDs because of some sort of contest involving which character sold the most.
aah the anime is below my expectation. I expected something better
