Should I bother skinning the other gamemodes?

Yeah, why not? It's a pretty promising skin.

Introduction

Hello there fellow circle clickers! I'm TestyBeat, and this is my first skin, Gold Stroke.
It's a skin themed around calligraphy and the colour gold, as the name probably suggests.
Though in all honesty it ended up looking like something drawn with cheap crayons. But oh well...

What's skinned?

Pretty much everything in the song select has been skinned, this includes mod icons (excluding the Mania specific ones). Basically everything you'd see while playing osu!std is also skinned. Same goes for the ranking screen. If I've missed anything though, let me know! Just be aware that I might have left it out on purpose, such as the slider score points, which I find a tad distracting. Mania is also, eh, semi-skinned? It's pretty much all default assets but with YUGEN's layout, meaning larger keys and no white borders in between.

Recoloured versions of the ones from VelocityFTW's skin

Even if it is one element, its not allowed to use someone else elements (excepts sounds). Recolouring doesnt make somethings yours. Please change it.

There you go, changed it. Feel free to compare them.

Do you mind explaining what exactly led to such a strict ban regarding mixed elements?
I mean, it's kinda ridiculous, don't you think? :v

Nice spin and colors.
btw is author's integrity and same as his creations. the amount of respect you give to other creators will be proportionally equal to the respect they they will give you.
Don't steal art. Make you own.

Like a year ago mixed skins where allowed, if you had permission. But it was just too hard to always check if people had permission so the rules changed to a strict ban.

Thanks! I'm glad you like those! :)
And as for stealing art, no worries. I guess I'm just new to the rules here. :d
I've learned enough from RockRoller's warning.

Eh, fair enough.

This brings a question to my mind though.. What if two different skinners came across the exact same picture on a site such as Google Images, and unaware of each other they both used it in their own skins? Would this be considered mixed? Or is a skin mixed only when the element is directly taken from another skin?

A mixed skin is considered a skin that has elements taken and/or slightly edited from another skin. It's alright for skins to use the same source image for some parts, but it's not allowed to post skins that contain elements directly stolen (and sometimes slightly edited) from other skins.
