Favorite Final Fantasy game that you've played and the worst?

Personally I don't find much appeal in villains who are just evil because the protagonist's need someone to fight against.

"Oh god I'm so evil, look at all this unwarranted chaos I'm causing. How insane I am. I'm destroying everything because I can."

For a character who is one of the most loved villains of a series of story heavy rpgs Kefka pretty much has no story except for being the first experimental Magitek Knight. Which to me seems like a detail which was just thrown in at the last moment to try and clarify him.

It's like when you're about to fight Solidus at the end of MGS2 after finding out that his intentions are good and you've been manipulated into stopping him by the bad guys. You don't have a real reason to kill him anymore, maybe because of Olga's child at most, so then out of nowhere they just throw out the "Oh yeah by the way I killed your parents" line.

It's kinda silly when people praise FFVI for it's story, which I agree is good, but Kefka who is often their favourite character has the worst story.

Even Garland has a better story than "I want power so I can destroy things."

OK I will admit Garland was just wow. Like that kinda of story in the first final fantasy srsly. The guy is friggen awesome and also one of my favourite villains.

Personally I hated the FFVI story, and I firmly stand by "Kefka > all villains".

Evil for evil's sake is pretttty much the best js

IX is the best Final Fantasy for me, mostly because it was one of the first games I ever played. I think I finished it before I was 5, didn't know how to read so I had to talk to everyone and try EVERYTHING to make the plot advance.

Worst is definitely FF X. It made everything go wrong.

I tried X, it was not the worst. but almost impossible to play, especially in the "swimming pool". I forgot the name already. o.o

And Kefka broke many of the rules villains usually follow, he actually succeeded in destroying the whole world, he did MUCH MUCH MUCH more evil than killing a pretty main characted(looking at a certain someone), he is the no holds barred, no morals at all type, he was immune to talk no jutsu to his last breath, he doesnt contradict himself or gives us a lot of confusion.

But most of all his laugh... Omg dat laugh is the most memorable thing ever about FFVI, his theme and any music to do with him and the final fights all deserve mentioning.

Even though he's so simple, that in a way makes him unique, fresh and special. I actually really really hated him when I was playing through FFVI, but then again isn't that what a villain is supposed to achieve, Kefla really nailed it on the spot there.

Hmm...this topic went to the conversation about FF from fav FF char. \:D/
I don't hate Kefka, but I not like him, well the game itself is a good and easy game, thats why a like it. But actually what I see in all FF game is the gameplay itself and every FF has its own gp which is good, but when it takes too many time to learn how it works (like in FF XII), I just couldn't bear to play with it. FFI to FFVI has a good gp, same but good. I like them all. End when the SE finally changed to "3D" the first game was sucks, good story, chars...but sh*t grafic. Then FF8 end after the grafic is starting to become good too, but the story is starting to become sucks. So the best FFs are the first 6 end maybe the 7 and 9. Never played XIII. ._.

FFXII didn't tke long to learn at all. attack, magic, gambits, skills done. oh wait besides gambits (which is usually user input), is the same as every other rpg.

and FFXIII wasn't a great game but I still (unfortunately i suppose) loved it.

FFXII-2 however is one of my favourite ffs it's just so fantastic <3

FFXII I admit was one of the most confusing
Partly because of how large scale it was, givin you excess to almost mutha p00tin everything from the start, and the towns also had more than 15 people in them.

But once I got used to the game, I tell you this FF has the best gameplay ever, gambits were kick ass once i knew how to fully utilize them, and the graphics just made it even better. Where this game fails in story and characters it makes up for it with gameplay, beautiful visuals and memorable soundtracks.

Too me, it took time to learn things in FF XII. Well, i didn't played too much with it and never tried again. Maybe its already time to try again. o.o At first if I think over again, FFX-2 was also "hard" to learn, so maybe I just not give enough time to learn how it works.

Trust me, I gave up FFXII the first time I tried because it was just too different, but after picking it up again a year later it really amazed me.

These two had awesome gameplay, and that's pretty much what I look for in a RPG.

Least Favorite: Hmm, FF Tactics? Didn't hate it but it's down there on my list.

Kingdom Hearts is almost has a same gameplay as FF XII, if I remember right. But just almost. And I'm a KH lover so, I dunno why I was unable to play with that game. Maybe because i understand nothing. o.o As I said I will give at least one try again.
I love Square Enix after all.

Wait. What. KH gameplay is NOTHING like FFXII. The only thing that is the same is setting "gambits" for donald and goofy. but even then the main character doesn't get it, therefore nothing like FFXII

and yeah KH was way better than FFXII I'll give you that. That does not mean I didn't like FFXII though, more like KH is in it's own tier.

Just to follow up my older post, I didn't think that FFX-2 sucks. I just didn't like it. The airship theme sounds like a Hentai BGM though, which I approve.

Might as well mention my favorite characters
Favorite guy: Balthier (surprising coming from FFXII which was bland in this aspect, but this guy had swag, and I loved it)

Favorite girl: Celes ( I'm weak and fall completely for this type of women. Blonde hair, strong outside yet weak at heart (not enough to be called tsundere though, and the feel is just different) e.g Athena, Teresa, Miria~~)

Favorite villian: Kefka (was there any doubt? XD)

Favorite summon/gf/eidolon/aeon/esper: Bahamut (No competition~)

Oh right, I heard about that patch.

Still didn't really like the retranslation so much, but maybe I'll play through it again sometime. Maybe with some retarded gimmick like all time mages all the time.

Played: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12 and 12RW if to count that.

Favourite is 6 I really liked thes game. The story and the music were great, And you really had lots of stuff to do.
After that 10, then 9.

Worst: 12. It was the only FF I got bored in the middle of the game. i also have not finished this one while I finished all the others. :\

I think I'm one of the few people who thought FF4 was the worst of the numeric FF games. Was never fond of the linear "hands off" character progression

1. VII for childhood nostalgia, Don't like it so much now since its gotten so much more attention throughout the years than it deserved.
2. IX would be top if it was the first game I got when I received my PS1.
3. X nice balance of story vs. art... Shitty voice acting and dialogue arrangement.

Worst...
1. XII wheres the romance? Had to drop it.
2. XIII too much eye-candy not enough story development and a wall of text to read just to make sense of it all.

I never got around to play VIII-XIII (Mostly because my ps2 died D:), I played for X-2 for a short period (got like 30h in that game)
My favourite has to be FFIV + after years and CC Ring of Fates
Least Favourite Dissidia FF and Dissidia 012 FF -.-
