So i recently bought a new laptop (i5 7300hq, nvidia gtx 1050) and the game runs like shit, i get around 3.3ms of frame time (~300fps) while playing, which is unbearable. I tried literally everything and nothing fixes it. Here's a quick list of what i did:

  1. changed skin
  2. tried cutting edge
  3. lower resolution (i play on 1920 x 1080)
  4. compatibility mode
  5. windowed mode
  6. laptop is plugged in, no power saving mode
  7. using integrated graphics gives me even less fps
  8. updated all the drivers
  9. checked if nvidia had a frame limiter
  10. tried everything on this post https://osu.ppy.sh/community/forums/topics/688876 (i had this problem on my older laptop and thought a new and better laptop wouldn't have any problems, hah i want to die)

If someone has a brilliant idea i will appreciate it. The only thing i can think of that i haven't tried is changing to windows 7, but that would take waaaay too much work.

Thanks in advance

Have you also tried lowering the frame limiter of osu!? Using unlimited sometimes isn't the best choice.

Also, play in fullscreen and not windowed mode, as that may give you additional lags.

I've had this exact problem before. It solely deals with the capabilities of the laptop. Osu isn't a particularly tasking program to run but it can still lag of course. If closing all unused applications doesn't reduce the lag then the only other thing I can really think of is dedicating more of your memory to ram.

Yeah i'm playing fullscreen, tried locking fps to 240 and at least now it doesn't seem to give me random frame drops, but still i feel like i should be able to get way more fps...

closing all other apps doesn't have any effect, i have 8gb of ram though, it should be more than enough to get way more fps than this, no?

For example, my sister's laptop is a lot weaker than mine and she only gets ~1.5ms. Though her laptop has an amd graphics card, so I think the problem has something to do with nvidia.

I have the same problem with u. I am using a laptop with 1050ti but only get 500fps. Still thinking how to fix it!

Have you also tried disabling nvidia geforce experience or discord overlay in-game? That can also cause some fps issues.
