exactly 5734 ranked(not approved) songs at this moment.

And why would you need a total number of songs in osu :? ?

1 - For promote osu to other with detail..

2 - I think its a common sense, if u go to any forum, u will know how much post and thread they have.. Not just user register..
So, by the total of osu song, we will know how much song available from time to time..

I mean its general thing...

i think it will better if osu have this feature on beatmap list..

examples :

Ranked Song : 5,734 ( 6 today | 150 this month )
Pending Song : 22,201 ( 50 Song add today | 800 this month )
Approved song : 1,224 ( ....... )

Something like that or u can add info like u want..

Ok, i think this feature to make us remind any new and improvement in osu song..
or maybe u can add song by maker...

Thanks for reply

Yes.. but with detail static..

So,we can sort it by maker / date

Edit.. ok..

Im make the examples like this pic

Sakura
Why do you need so much detailed statistics?

Erm..
Its general common sense i mean..

Ok..

im explain detail..

What this statistic point or meaning to appear on front page?

So, if any user or guest looking here, they will know how popular this osu by user p/online and by p/play ranked song..
Thats why i said its common sense..

Same with osu forum statistic

everybody will check it right?

So, why dont osu song dont have song statistic?

If somebody ask us
examples :

Person A : Which more have more song, OSU or StepMania ?

Or

Player A : Oh, osu song have 10,000 song approved, but im just have 150 song only... i will download it
( Maybe player A want osu supporter by next time )

Player B : im play osu for 2 Years, but i dont know how much song in osu have, just download it by random

So statistic have so many reason..

Just like u see how much u have post on osu forum..

What the post count mean? It will give u more motivation to gain more post right?

p/s: im sorry if my idea have make u all unhappy about this.. This is just my opinion to improve osu for future..
Even stepmania dont have this feature... refer : http://www.stepmania.com/wiki/Download_Songs

PSS : Im not stepmania player.. Its kinda boring to play by keyboard only.. Osu have more challenger and more fun

Hmm I'm not really sure about the necessity of this feature, assuming I understood the OP correctly.

Aizat, are you suggesting to put a song/beatmap quantification statistic on the homepage/beatmap listing page?

Looks easy enough to implement. Its helpfulness is another matter though.

theowest
I think new users would appreciate this.
Stefan
The Idea is not bad at all, as long it has more details besides of the exact number of ranked all Maps.

Not only new users. I love statistics, the more the better.
theowest
Yeah, but especially when you're new to the game and want to see how much it has to offer.
Saten
Comparing how many beatmaps osu! have and what I got myself would really be interesting
This is not really pointless statistics.

Makes sense. Support. I had always wondered how many songs were in osu! already, aside for the beatmaps.

Bump. I want this ^^

Oh another good request that I missed...

The number of songs/maps are important stats and imo they're worth boasting about. If it doesn't fit the screen real estate on top right, how about adding the songs/maps count at the Beatmap Listing page?
Your Good Self
Is this a good enough measure?
Subtract the non-map topics (3 of them currently), and you should have the number of ranked/approved mapsets.
You can do the same thing for pending/WIP/graveyard.

Note that it can't tell how many distinct songs there are, since there are different mapsets that map the same song.

Sure, one can work out a rough number by doing what you suggested. But imo it's a shame to let an important stats hide in the dust.

I mean if you look at the stats box on top right: number of users and online are fine, but is the total ranked play more significant than number of songs mapped? The number of maps, whether ranked or not, is a heritage of community effort and I reckon it deserves more spotlight.

The programmer may have different agenda of course, to appeal to outsiders that this game is played a lot. But demonstrating that a game offers variety is another way of selling (if not better).
