if they've put a lot of effort in the class, then an A, or a B+ if that exists. but that would apply to all students, i think - getting a bit of a higher grade just because they put a lot of work in.
but if we're talking about someone who's depressed, then chances are that it doesn't come off like that since they'll be too lazy to do anything. maybe they won't even come to class. if we're in university, i can't really do anything i think since it's probably not as noticeable since i have so many other students and skipping classes is more normal.
if we're in high school, then i can contact his parents and ask what's up. if not i can ask them to see the school counselor or something. if something is seriously wrong, then i'll be easier on them, but i'm not going to do something before i know about what's going on. not that they have to be awfully specific, i'd just want to know if something is actually wrong or not. if i gave him a better grade at the first sign of depression, then others might start faking it just to get a bit of a better grade.
