A little later than I wanted, here are some of the proposals for the RC changes I brought up for discussion a while ago.

The following changes provide a more fluid definition for the gap between objects and spinners.

Cup

The following rule:
  1. At least 250 ms must be left between objects and the start and end of spinners to ensure readability. As an example, a 1/3 gap would be required at 80 bpm, whereas a 1/2 gap would be required at 120 BPM.
Replaces:
  1. Adequate time must be left between objects and the start and end of spinners to ensure readability. Depending on the BPM of the song, this time must conform to the following:
    1. BPM < 120 - 1/2 bar
    2. BPM < 240 - 1 bar
    3. BPM ≥ 240 - 2 bars
Salad

The following rule:
  1. At least 250 ms must be left between objects and the start and end of spinners to ensure readability. As an example, a 1/3 gap would be required at 80 bpm, whereas a 1/2 gap would be required at 120 BPM.

Platter

The following rule:
  1. At least 125 ms must be left between objects and the start of spinners to ensure readability. As an example, a 1/4 gap would be required at 120 BPM, whereas a 1/3 gap would be required at 160 BPM.

    4. The gap between the end of a spinner and the next object must be at least 1/2 a bar regardless of BPM.
Rain

The following rule:
  1. At least 125 ms must be left between objects and the start and end of spinners to ensure readability. As an example, a 1/4 gap would be required at 120 BPM, whereas a 1/3 gap would be required at 160 BPM.

    4. The gap between the end of a spinner and the next object must be at least 1/2 a bar regardless of BPM.
Overdose

The following rule:
  1. At least 62 ms must be left between objects and the start of spinners to ensure readability. As an example, a 1/6 gap would be required at 160 BPM, whereas a 1/4 gap would be required at 240 BPM.
  2. At least 125 ms must be left between objects and the end of spinners to ensure readability. As an example, a 1/4 gap would be required at 120 BPM, whereas a 1/3 gap would be required at 160 BPM.

Discussion for these proposed rule changes will be open for two weeks, ending at 23:59 UTC+0, Tuesday the 17th of April. If there are no open discussions that warrant revision by this point, the proposal will be amended into the Ranking Criteria with immediate effect. Therefore, if you have questions, concerns, or ideas for further improvement, please continue to discuss them here over the next two weeks.

Only issue I really have is that it seems really off that spinner to object rule is the same for all difficulties, considering it's something that's definitely harder to read for newer players than more experienced ones.

Just want to remind anyone that's about to post, this post has stuff from both the old and new RC

Anything under "Replaces" is not in the new RC

As per MBomb suggestion, we're proposing to change the spinner-object distance rule in Rain and Overdose to:

At least 125 ms must be left between objects and the end of spinners to ensure readability. As an example, a 1/4 gap would be required at 120 BPM, whereas a 1/3 gap would be required at 160 BPM.

These changes have been updated in the initial post.

Given that this is a shorter revision, discussion will be open until Saturday the 2nd of June at 23:59 UTC+0.. If there are no open discussions that warrant revision by this point, the proposal will be amended into the Ranking Criteria with immediate effect. Therefore, if you have questions, concerns, or ideas for further improvement, please continue to discuss them here.

Looks like the Rain and Overdose rules weren't updated properly, the snapping examples in the rules don't match the ms values stated. They state 125 ms but provide examples as if it were 250 ms

Would also make sense to roll the Rain rules into one like it is for Cup and Salad

I'm a retard. Will work on this when I get home.

EDIT: Stuff has been fixed (I hope).
