So, a few weeks ago I discovered that an 100 or 50 may break your combo. What does it take for it to happen?
Slay
You can't break on regular "acc related" 100s and 50s.

If you break on a 100 or a 50 then it's most likely on a slider since if you mess up (not follow the slider properly or miss a slider tick) you will break your combo and get a 100 or a 50 instead of missing.

A Slider is composed of 5 elements:

  1. the head (where the number is)
  2. the sliderbody
  3. the sliderticks positioned on the sliderbody
  4. possibly a repeatarrow
  5. the sliderend.
The sliderhead functions as a hitcircle, meaning that you have to tap with your cursor above it in the correct timeframe. Failing to do this will result in a combobreak.
In the moment the sliderball passes over a slidertick or a repeatarrow a key must be pressed down and your cursor must be within the sliderballs range.
If this is not the case, combo will be dropped.

A combodrop will always result in a 100. Whether you get a 50 or a 100 depends on how many parts of a slider you missed. If you missed more than 50% of the sliders elements you will get a 50.
For scorev2 the judgement is additionally determined by your accuracy on the sliderhead but with no further effect on combo (meaning you can get a 50 on a slider without breaking combo).

Combo will not be dropped if:
  1. Your cursor is not within the sliderball's range or no key being held down upon the sliderball hitting the sliderend.
You just get a 100 here and miss out on 1 combo the sliderend would have granted you.
  2. Your cursor is not within the sliderball's range or no key being held down while the sliderball travels the sliderbody.
I think you may still miss out on health from this but you will still get a 300 if you hit all other elements of the slider correctly.
