Chosen from the personal picks of some of the best players from each gamemode, the Captain's Pick selection for Loved is a brief return to the old community voting style which introduced the category in its earliest days.

The selection of maps for this vote was compiled by tasuke912,
_yu68 and TKS.

Please choose up to four (4) maps from this selection that you'd like to see become Loved.

All maps above a certain threshold (6-10% of total voting) will be added to the category at the conclusion of the vote.

Real talk, I think at this point the inclusion of Lucent into the pool is a waste of a slot. It was in the first 3 pools, and each time it had a low amount of votes, its best rank was #6 in round 1, then #10 and #9. There are many other maps that would have fit the pool (got no examples as I'm not playing all that much anymore, some more assiduous players would have given tens of them).

It seems a bit redundant to have Kumo no Kireme in the pool considering this exists and is currently going for rank : https://osu.ppy.sh/s/663833

Which is the set, retooled for rank. Is this not a problem? What happens if KnK gets loved but my set also gets ranked?

@Backfire I guess that there is no problem even if similar mapsets exist one by one in both Ranked/Loved sections. Ranked is "nominated map", Loved is "map loved by people", those have different significance for each.
It's actually interesting for me that the similar mapsets exist in a form suitable for each of Ranked and Loved.
Btw it's me who picked KnK. I apologize if you care about that ;_;

It's alright, it's up to you guys, I just think before we took maps out if they are still going for rank, which is why I asked. But I won't stop anyone lol

Good thing Loved maps don't matter at all in the current state of osu! or I may have gotten upset about this.


Some stuff about Katacheh, some stuff about the picks

I personally think Kata's t_pazolite feat nanahira - Otsukimi PARTY HARD, deserves to be up there in place of Ponko2. I'm pretty sure it's the first map to use the window slider gimmick he showed off in Aspire. Also, her newest map, DJ Noriken feat. Nanahira - Sweet Wishes is incredible, with gimmick I've never never thought about making and a shitload of painstaking .osu manipulation. Of course LeaF - Aleph-0 deserves to be in here above the chosen map simply because it does exactly what kata serves to do in her maps... crash the game. Also, it has 4 DIFFICULTIES!!!! I'm sure there are a ton of random people to have made maps like Katacheh in the past an present, but I'm using these as examples of what could have been picked from her assortment of game-breaking maps in place of Ponko2.

Now for my opinion on the picks...

Both of yu's maps up there kinda just seem like a case of the "I don't wanna make a lower diff for this so let's just see if it can get loved." Shit, Ryui's map only has one favorite, while about half of the rest of the maps have no more than 10, and since favorites are kind of what shows that the community likes some maps more than others, I would assume basing a list like this off of a stat like that would make sense (not entirely, of course, but seriously, ONE favorite?!)
Lucent is a boring aspire map, Kumo no Kireme has a set going for rank, the owner of Intersect Thunderbolt is pretty much dead (Ryui is pretty much also dead).
The only maps that deserve to be up there, in my opinion, are the top 4 disregarding Kumo no Kireme, since they're the only ones that seem actually enjoyed by enough people to be loved.
As for the yu picks, I hate to say it, but it's probably due to the "captains," since I'm sure myself and many others like me would agree that Katacheh deserves two of her maps up there instead. Jesus, the work she puts into those is insane, you know?

I guess I'll follow this discussion, feel free to respond to my comments here. Are they stupid? Smart? Logical? Contrived? Discussion is good guys :D.

i dont know why you mind the number of favorites. a loved map should be picked a well known map? i have just picked a fun map which should be known to much more players even though a map is really little known. if im wrong with this there is no sense to have a map selector for loved pool imo.

Maps I picked are not my maps but KnK and Cartoon. I won't use the captain's pick right for such purpose :(
