So personally I'm a big fan of wristwatches and in my opinion every forum is supposed to have a watches topic. Since this forum already has a 'post your headphones' topic, I figured I'd make the one for the watches ;).

So which watches do you own and which ones would you like to own someday?
FisHie_old
I do not own a watch.
I do not want a watch.
I do not need a watch.

This watch i got from a friend, who at first about five years ago bought it in turkey.

Only thing that i dislike about it is that the strap keeps breaking, i even had to buy a swatch metal thingy because the old one broke off.

While I really like the phone itself, I find a phone impractical to check the time on because I'd have to get it out of my pocket every time I need to know the date or time.
foulcoon
What is impractical is spending over $1,000 USD on a piece of jewelry that can be replicated with cheaper materials for less than 100 dollars.

While it is a lot of money, the quality of a replica and original are not the same :p, mechanically speaking that is. Obviously I don't buy an expensive watch just for the practicality of it, I also buy it because I'm fascinated by the engineering precision needed to construct such a watch and have it run with such insane precision. Basically that's what made me a watch fan in the first place ;)
Cuddlebun
there are also watches that are considerably cheaper; you just have to make sure to get the ones that are cheap but will still last. My last watch was fifteen-twenty dollars and lasted four or five years.
foulcoon
You're right, the slight timing precision differences cannot be altered by synchronizing the watch more frequently (say every few months) to your desired, more reliable time source. Pretty sure this would fix your issue with mechanical precision and would also save you a lot of money.

Or maybe I'm not understanding you properly.

It's more about respecting the true craftmanship behind it than having to adjust the time every once in a while. It's more of an emotional 'connection' I think. I'm not sure how to explain it really.
I reckon most people have something that amazes them and are willing to pay extra for the perfection of that in comparison to a competitor's product that might seem similar, but really is a lesser product that causes a different 'emotional' response.

You might compare it to buying a car: people are willing to pay the premium of a BMW over say a Toyota because the product is superior and siting in it causes them considerably more joy. Both cars get you from A to B and are probably similarly safetywise, but the BMW would probably be a whole lot more fun during the ride.

In any case, let's get back on topic and showcase watches!

That's a really nice watch, but I wouldn't wear it because it's so beautiful.

This, except my phone isn't anywhere near that quality. ;_;

I've tried actual watches before but I keep on forgetting to put it on in the morning. Though, I do prefer digital watches over mechanical; less effort to read, and they're easier to find cheap from my experience.
adam2046
Every watch I've owned has been lost or broken.

I have considered purchasing a Tokyo Flash watch, but their watches require learning and shit. That's way too much effort to tell the time and look like a hipster.
Vext_old

Battery died a while back and I am too lazy to fix, so my yuyuko is wearing it for no particular reason.

Got my current watch as an early birthday present from a close friend before she went overseas. Which cost AU$500 when it first came about, she got it for cheap as far as I know.
The watch itself is called: Seiko Mens Watch Gold and Stainless look.
Random image from some online store..

Even then I still use my cheap, unbranded watch since I wouldn't want the other one to break.

I swear they look like kilowatt-hours.

It's "post your watches", not "post a photo of your watch while you're wearing it". I think discussing the model itself and the reason why it was chosen or received is more interesting, really. Wrists and hands don't especially excite me anyway. Perhaps related to that last statement, I don't regularly wear a watch because I've not found one that I wanted to do so with.

Yeah, exactly, post your watch(es), and not an image of a similar/watch of the same model, and nor "i want a watch like this but for some reason wont/cant buy one so i'll just post an image i found on the internet and claim that i actually have one".

The lack of even minimum effort is what makes this whole forum a piece of shit.

What?! People lie about themselves on the internet?!

Oh please, as if a photo of a watch outside of a stock photo is a valid form of identification. Is that what you want or are you just really keen on independent watch photography? Furthermore, I don't see why it would make much difference to the thread if people were to just lie about the watch they want and claim it as their own regardless, but I don't think that's really happening now anyway.

I don't entirely disagree, but it doesn't apply in this thread specifically so much.
adam2046
You're right failboat. I'm lazy, I don't own a camera and I don't even own a watch.

So here's an unfunny pic with poor lighting of my ipod touch and my favourite alarm clock strapped to my wrist by a jack extension cable taken with my laptop's built in webcam:

I hope you're having fun, fun vampire.

That's exactly the reason that I started this thread. It would be great if people were to post an actual picture of the watch, but a stockphoto is fine aswell ;).
In any case, adam and shellghost: best watches ever.

Let's go back in topic, shall we?

Honestly, every time I owned a watch I always lose it, but I'm not really into wrist watches so I guess the loss of it doesn't affect me as much.

But pocket watches are awesome! I always wanted to owe one. :) But I heard they're pretty expensive. Does anyone know a good model?

Why.

Hello Kitty watches = <3

But I agree with Firo 100%.
I love pocket watches so much, they're just really unique & that's something I look forward to owning in the near future.

I'm just as cool as Edward Elric, okay?

It's a pretty old watch that I've worn almost daily since I bought it, so it's pretty scratched up.
