I really really want to do levels for songs that are around 4 to 6 minutes long. Can they still be added into the game if I give the player breaks so they can rest their hand for a couple of seconds?

Psh, only 6 minutes? Go for it. We were debating in another topic over 60 minute songs.

6 minute songs are okay, but only if the background video involves everyone in the world cheering together to summon a giant laser.

It's fine to do long songs, but don't expect anything more than 5-6 minutes to get ranked. >_>

It generally isn't too difficult to cut a song into pieces, but if a song is of rank-worthy standards, denying it ranking status because of an extra few minutes of play is a bit harsh, no? Perhaps make a manditory distinction that the song is effing long for a beatmap.

If you do a long song, it'll have to have something to keep players awake and interested. Like this, for example.
