I've decided I'll buy an android this week, mainly for geek development. I need it to run version 2.2, have a good reaction on touch (preferably like iPhone), and be under $130.

Suggestions? I've been thinking about this:

A little far off from your budget; but the battery life plus the screen size is much larger than Galaxy 5... Unless you don't really care about the camera and the screen size, the Galaxy 5 is okay for me albeit it's low performance.

Mhm, both run the same CPU. And Galaxy 5 is cheaper.

Personally, I'd say that if you can't afford to spend a good amount of money (5-600 USD) on a good Android phone, then just don't bother.

I'm not talking out of personal experience when I say that though, but nearly everyone I know who bought a low-end Android have been greatly disappointed.

Resolution/screen size are one thing, and I'd imagine that if you're going to be developing, you'd want it to be at least 480x800, or WVGA as it's also called.

In short, your best bet if you really can't wait to save up money would probably be to find a used phone.

Nexus S is the pure google android phone. No proprietary software or anything like that.

Also need to factor in whether or not changing providers, they always give you better deals of phones if you are.
