Hello people, Xero here. I know I'm new, but I saw a thread I think could really benefit me, and so I'd like to make a new one.

viewtopic.php?p=401619

Though it's a general music discussion thread, It'll work two ways. You should either post

  1. An artist you like at the moment. Be sure to list:
    1. The artist/group's name.
    2. The main genre of music they cover.
    3. A link to their site, if possible. Youtube channels, facebook pages, and other things are optional.
    4. A little about them. Why are you suggesting them? What song/albbum would you recommend? What is it about them that differs?
    5. One or two key songs from them using a youtube embed or something similar.
  2. A genre of music you're looking to dive into. If you are asking for recommendations, post some things like:
    1. What genre are you looking to enjoy.
    2. What other similar music have you enjoyed.
    3. Any previous artist from that genre you enjoyed, or any artist from that genre you weren't to fond of (to rule out recommendations that may not suit you well).
    4. Any other specifications that might help someone pick a good recommendation.
To start if off, as I'm not sure if this thread will become active, I'll recommend and ask for one thing each.

  1. Group's Name: Naturally Seven
  2. Genre: A capella, mostly R&B
  3. Website: http://www.naturallyseven.com/ (Other pages such as facebook can be found on the main site)
  4. Reason for recommendation: They are a revolutionary group, using only their vocals to create the instruments. A very unique group, creating the bass guitar, lead guitar, drums, trombone, and other miscellaneous instruments with just their beatbox like skills! It's pretty epic, and the vocals themselves are good. If you look into them check out the lead guitar, who literally creates the guitar sound with his mouth, and can even improvise.
Here's a video from their big debut on the Ellen Degeneres show, which (omfg yes, I know, one time) I actually saw the day it aired. They actually visited my college about a month ago, but of course no one told me. Pretty pissed of about that, it was a free show...

I'm also looking for recommendations in Trance.
  1. I don't like a lot of the newer trance songs, especially Tiesto. Anything too minimal isn't my style.
  2. I love J-Trance, and anything old school. Things like Sandstorm by Darude, which is Trance, never get old for me. Even if it's an old artist, I don't know a lot of Trance artists to care.
  3. I like Hard Trance as well, so anything that is more towards that than minimal is fine. If you have any recommendations, let me know!
Good start. :)

Never heard of them. Maybe you should put their genre and link to me to one of their songs before I can make an opinion :P

OK Go's a Rock Band. There's numerous Ranked beatmaps on them, so you can check it out by clicking here.

Just a note that you can't search for OK Go in the Beatmap Database because it's under three characters, which is why I linked via Google.

Haha, I heard Tsugihagi Construction before. There's an epic ITG pad chart for it. It is a good song, I admit. But it's not something I'd listen to on a regular basis. Some songs just don't feel like a song to listen to versus playing it. I dunno, the music is good, but it's not my favorite.

Checking OK Go soon.

"Jesse & Joy are a Latin Grammy award winning Mexican pop duo formed in 2005 by siblings Jesse (born December 31, 1982 as Jesse Eduardo Huerta) and Joy (born June 20, 1986 as Tirzah Joy Huerta)."
Their most known song
Also a song I loved and I'll probably upload a beatmap for it very soon.

"Two Door Cinema Club are a Northern Irish rock band from Bangor and Donaghadee, County Down, Northern Ireland. Formed in 2007, the band is composed of band members: Sam Halliday (lead guitar, backing vocals), Alex Trimble (vocals, rhythm guitar, beats, synths) and Kevin Baird (bass, backing vocals)."
Random song I pick~

"We the Kings is a pop punk band formed in 2003 from Bradenton, Florida, currently signed to record label S-Curve Records."
Bubbled song I mapped~

Recent discoveries. I knew Jesse & Joy from before but I heard the rest of their discography recently and I was amazed, so I guess that counts~

first off Tiesto aint really new, but tbh he would be more classed on the euphoria side of trance.

if you like more busy trance try some of these artists, well known for powerfull leads, artists like special D, ultrabeat, Hypasonic, Flip&fill,

Special D

Flip&FIll

also if you like hard trance you are most likely gonna like Hardcore it starts at 160 bpm and ends about 180, its pretty much all about super catchy lead and powerfull bass, artists like darren style, scott brown, hixxy, dougal&gammer, sy&unknown, Breeze

Dougal & Gammer

uh....yea

Just wanted to add that, if everyone adds the embed to youtube, the load time for each page of the thread may take a while to charge on slow computers. So, take that in mind and post the link instead?

Hm, I only post like one video per artist, and I won't post too many artists at that. But if it's not that important I can use a link instead to help you out. Though I can't guarantee every youtube video will be a link, but yea, I'll be more considerate of that.

Tiesto isn't too new but he's still somehow making songs and getting recognition. He's not too good in my opinion, he's really overrated. I enjoyed the first video though, thanks for that. I need some better trance artistsm good call.

LOL Darren Styles, I was just listening to Save Me today! That song NEVER gets old to me (not really Hard Trance I guess, or is it? I've seen it under Happy Hardcore too lol, but awesome nonetheless), but yea, I enjoy Hard Trance/Hardcore a lot. It's typical rave music for me, it's good when I'm not in the mood for hardstyle or dubstep. I need to jump into DnB a lot more too, I've been out of that scene for quite some time. Any new artists you know about?

I like your taste, we should talk more haha. Any other genres you listen to? I'm sure some of our preferred artists overlap.
