Basically give people a profile badge for having achieved global rank #1 for any game mode at any time (even if you lose it a few minutes later).

For a single Map, "Quick Draw" already covers it (a bit)
I completely agree with this request, and I would also like to add a badge for achieving rank#1 in the ranked score leaderboards.
Badge =/= medal, right?
Hope It'll be a badge that isn't shown on the profile page until it's earned. Don't want to have to see an grey badge that tells me to be #1 when it's quite a feat.

I see. I don't think profile badges can be used for temporary things though.
But at least it does prove you once claimed #1.

A medal for getting rank 1 on a ranked map would make more sense. But I think having a profile badge would be better for achieving #1 global rank in any mode
Kinda divided about that. While I believe it's a little cute thing to have, there are more things which speak against (most things were said above by Nathanael and abraker basically).
I think this post is misunderstood. The OP is referring to a profile badge. One similar to the kind you get when placing top 3 in an official world tournament. And the OP is also not talking about a certain ranked map rating, they are talking about a global ranking.
For example jhlee0133, considered one of the greatest osu!mania players. He held the global #1 Rank in osu!mania for quite some time before quitting. A badge that shows he achieved rank 1 global before would recognise the player's accomplishment. The badge can be a universal thing, it does not need to have a certain date on it or anything fancy like that.

It's not too difficult to do that in some modes/songs and I don't really think it's actually that big of an accomplishment. There's no real sense in making it a badge when it's not really difficult to achieve, nor is it actually a permanent thing. (Usually.)

Why should it be? Consider not even 0.001% can get this achievement and it would just fill a empty achievement slot for almost all players.Flannel wrote:

Profile badges are supposedly meant for permanent recognitions such as the contributor badge.
An addition to the tiers (medal) is better and they're permanent. Not mention it gives a surprise-like feeling at the ranking screen.
But isn't claiming #1 recognizable too?
I guess why I don't like the idea of medals is because the only way other would see it is if they go into you achievements and find the right one. Most people who look at profiles only glance at it. I think if you are able to get a badge just for doing well in a community tournament then you should be recognised as being one of the top players in the world. Just my thoughts, feels like a lot of back and forward so this will be my last post about the topic. Good luck with your request!

I reckon it's a cool idea to have badges for high achievers but wouldn't it be better to have something more specific? Some sort of an incentive besides being #1 might be a better approach.
As it is now there are only a few people who go for #1 Global and I doubt just a badge would be much of a reward to them.
