How to know if somebody is hacking?

So you are on osu! playing then, ooh whats this hvick225 lost his 1st place DTHD Miraizu FC to some player you never heard of well isn't that fishy?
what I want to know is how can we know if a unknown player actually played and fc'ed a legendary play like hvick's fair and square and not by hacking
Every time someone unknown places a 1st place record the Osu! chat channel says they are hacking so IS IT LEGIT OR NAH

You look at their profile and/or analyze their replay.

We never EVER talk about hacking on the forums. Peppy doesn't want to give them any attention. So obviously, this post has nothing to do with hacking or cheating of any kind. Right?

However, in case you were wondering what to do if you think someone is hacking (not that I got that impression from this post because this post had nothing to do with hacking), you just report them and move on

you just assume at first they are hacking then you check what doesn't make that dude a hacker, like a high pp rank, NORMAL cursor movement, NORMAL unstable rate.
edit: it's impossible to cheat in osu, just forget about trying.

peppy and his team have their special way of detecting cheats/hacks which generally takes into account a lot of detail to make sure it is 100% fact they hacked, including cursor movement and unstable rate, patterns in accuracy and clicking, awkward pathing, etc.

I mean there are obvious hacks that anyone can tell, but other instances may require more in-depth investigation. Can't say it's 100% fool proof, but it works i guess.

it's not really your job to detect it anyway, it's just your job to report anything suspicious.

If you suspect something report it and it will be reviewed. Don't discuss in forums

If you suspect someone is cheating, please either report them on their profile or if they're top50 on a map, report on the beatmap leaderboard listings.
