A new multiplayer layout would help in aesthetic looks and also benefit the migrate to osu! next aswell.

Peppy already has plans to redo the multiplayer layout (most likely with osu!next) as seen here.

Please wait with requesting design updates until osu!next comes out. However, that'll be brand new, so I'll doubt they want to make design changes right away
