I was expecting this, but the vocal, for some reason, chooses to start exactly on the 1/4 tick before the white tick.

It represents the "whoosh" sound in the music, but I'll agree that it seems rather out of place. I'll keep it until another person points it out as well, which will probably happen.

The electronic music is clearly audible and is best represented by 6 note streams. I don't think overmapping applies at this point.

This mod would be FAR too long to read if I posted them all (Don't take it the wrong way this is really good for your FIRST EVER MAP :P) Just try to listen to the song for when a new combo should start, and when it should end. (Trashy tip.. I tried :/ )

Reversing seems weird, so I'll just double it's length to make the slider cooler. And also, I'm planning on filling in the break right after this to kick the drain time up to 5 min, so it shouldn't be awkward then (fixing it anyway)

One pattern is spaced where the other one is super stacked. Personally I like to keep passages of music with the same intensity consistent in spacing

  10. Wow, to be honest this is a pretty impressive first map. You have some pretty interesting ideas.
    Some suggestions: Try to map to what the music provides. Sometimes you put clickable objects at parts of the music where there's no sound. Becareful of this, it can be very dangerous. I suggest opening up some recently ranked maps in editor and see how they place and structure their notes, how each circle and slider enteracts with each other. Also take note of the rhythm they choose follow in relation to the song they're mapping. Notice what placements look nice or are "aesthetically" pleasing and try to incorporate them into your own maps. Keep on mapping~!

    I don't know WTF happened to the first one, but I'm in favor of keeping the second pattern for variation and the pitch of the piano not really changing between notes as the other three times, and it's perfectly readable (not that you said that it wasn't).     Crap...I tried my best not to overmap, especially in the dubstep sections. I'll keep it in mind; I frequently delete objects and listen to the music behind it to make sure they're justified, but not frequently enough, it seems. And yeah, will do! I think this is a tough song to map, especially for a noob like me, but I hope I can keep at it like you said.

This deviates from the other lines of the song because this first one starts off with the piano rather than the vocals on the first beat. They don't flow close together to show that difference; and I don't think it's awkward.

Originally that slider was two circles as well, but I combined it into a slider because the vocal's pitch at the beginning of the slider is the same as the end of the slider. I'm against changing its distance spacing to signify that as well.

I think it's fine cause the notes before were much more stacked than the same lines in the music before it, and there aren't any readability problems. It adds variation as well.

To be honest, putting that slider that far up doesn't make sense to me, unless I'm misunderstanding. I don't see what's wrong with its position right now.

I did that several times afterwards as well, and the slider was supposed to go along with the syncopated beat in the music. Also, I think it already serves to highlight the normal beat by the slider's initial point.

01:57:974 01:58:188 Two unused timing lines.

Didn't change that, but found other combo inconsistencies in the lines surrounding it. Fixed those.

This section of the map was supposed to consistently use long and slow sliders to represent more than one note each (basically, to give the slider end the same emphasis as the beginning through its slowness).

05:01:295 (5,9) - OCD causing overlap XD

Okay, that was actually intended, and the slider doesn't fully show by the time circle 5 is hit. I think it's fine. xP

05:15:438 (1) - Ctrl+G?

hi there, from my queue. you were request #19 with a priority of 25, this is mod #6. by the way, you reading all the way to the bottom made the difference between you and another map being next up.

pretty solid for a first map i have to say.

  1. as a general point, avoid using 100% sample volume for large parts of the map, in most cases 70-80% is a good "default" volume and anything above should only be used to emphasize.
  2. you work a lot with sample volume and sample set, but don't do anything with additions, please try using those. right now your work with hitsound volumes mostly goes to waste on the lack of additions still making it sound monotonous.
  3. comboing makes sense for the most part but seems a bit on the long side in general; i'd recommend trying to stay with single digits as much as possible unless you're mapping lots of streams and especially cutting down your combos on slow parts. short combos can also help a lot with reading complex patterns like the ones you're using in this map. it's also somewhat inconsistent in places with very short combos popping out of nowhere, so have a look at that and try to come up with and implement a consistent NC concept.
  4. 00:04:295 (6) - these are a bit awkward to read as they seem too slow to be a repeating kickslider but too fast to read the second reverse. i'd recommend going with a return slider into a circle or slider here since the note at the end would be nice to emphasize.
  5. 00:42:866 - this should probably be clickable since it's the start of a new measure and a fairly emphasized vocal note at the end of the phrase, plus the gap after feels rather awkward with said vocal note filling it but no object.
  6. 01:27:224 (1,2,1) - nc'ed differently than other repetitions of this patterns
  7. 01:29:152 (1,2,3,4) - i don't like the overlaps on this, especially because you don't use any other similar overlaps
  8. 01:55:724 (6,7,8) - try to find a way to make these patterns easier to recognize as triplet rhythms, it's very hard to differentiate these from stuff like 02:00:009 (1,2,3) -
  9. 02:00:652 (4) - this ends on a more emphasized note than it starts on, with the snare drum. always start sliders on sounds that are stronger or equal to their end. there are a lot of these in your map.
  10. 02:33:009 (3,4,5) - for stuff like this use copy-pasted slider shapes, having different curves looks inconsistent
  11. 02:52:724 (10,11,12,13) - you are not hanzer :(
    be very careful when using patterns like this, they are very hard to make intuitive. in this map in particular, the problem is when you then use regular doubles like 03:09:009 (4,5,6,7) - it gets very confusing. this particular pattern also overlaps with 02:51:866 (5,6,7) - in a bit of an awkward way.
  12. 02:57:009 (4,5) - overlaps like these just look bad, try to give them some more interaction, or at least keep the visual distance roughly constant like this: https://osu.ppy.sh/ss/6180351

  3. comboing makes sense for the most part but seems a bit on the long side in general; i'd recommend trying to stay with single digits as much as possible unless you're mapping lots of streams and especially cutting down your combos on slow parts. short combos can also help a lot with reading complex patterns like the ones you're using in this map. it's also somewhat inconsistent in places with very short combos popping out of nowhere, so have a look at that and try to come up with and implement a consistent NC concept.

  4. 00:04:295 (6) - these are a bit awkward to read as they seem too slow to be a repeating kickslider but too fast to read the second reverse. i'd recommend going with a return slider into a circle or slider here since the note at the end would be nice to emphasize.

    I thought the short distance spacing for the triplets were able to be recognized now, but guess it's not enough. I think the problem isn't with the orientation of the triplet sliders but the regular sliders around it, so I'll just contrast those more from the triplets.
  9. 02:00:652 (4) - this ends on a more emphasized note than it starts on, with the snare drum. always start sliders on sounds that are stronger or equal to their end. there are a lot of these in your map.

    I think these are okay because I consistently use angled sliders to show that the slider end is also important, so it's still intuitive and consistent throughout the map. I'll still look over them to see if there are actually any that don't fit, which there probably are.
  10. 02:33:009 (3,4,5) - for stuff like this use copy-pasted slider shapes, having different curves looks inconsistent

    They're supposed to curve in gradually, but edited the sliders more to show that.

    be very careful when using patterns like this, they are very hard to make intuitive. in this map in particular, the problem is when you then use regular doubles like 03:09:009 (4,5,6,7) - it gets very confusing. this particular pattern also overlaps with 02:51:866 (5,6,7) - in a bit of an awkward way.

    About the video; these stream doubles aren't random or for no reason (or excessive, for that matter) as the video showed them using, since these are consistently used throughout the map. I think the problem is to show the player that they are meant to be played as a stream (so like you said, intuitive). I tried putting the two short sliders before them right on the doubles to show that the doubles are essentially replacing the sliders (so thus a stream), and I decreased the distance spacing to show that. Also, the regular doubles you pointed out are not like those in two ways; the first in that the regular doubles are significantly more spaced apart, and the second in that the "stream" doubles are heavily stacked while the regular doubles are not so. I'll work on distinguishing them from each other further since you pointed it out, though.

    Actually, the synthesizer is getting gradually louder, and it prepares for the drop at the end. The only problem I have is that it doesn't represent the beat in the middle of the stream, but I think it's fine for now cause it only starts accelerating after that beat.

As I'm not really experienced mapping/modding harder maps, take everything as a suggestion play-wise. I cant really say very much about mapping-wise mainly playing-wise.

So as I played through your map I noticed, that you kinda overuse either simply curved or straight sliders. You get worned out by the intro pretty fast currently, so try to add more types of sliders with neat patterns. Work more with red anchors and the intro would already give more variety.
Also I noticed that your jumps are more randomly placed than with consistent DS policies or geometric patterns. I give you two examples so you get it better what i exactly mean: 1) http://puu.sh/rthWR/a552fa9c9c.jpg (as you can see I used one small and one twice bigger triangle for the jumps to make it more structured, also notice how i blanket the slider with circle 1) 2) http://puu.sh/rthZm/41851c8e4d.jpg - http://puu.sh/rti0n/18b6645c42.jpg both from same pattern (here i also used triangles and stacked notes. Stacking or overlapping notes in jumps are a good method to give your jumps more structure. You can also line up notes in a curved way - also given in that example - which feels very comfortable) If you combine both things the intro will be 100 times more exciting.
00:56:581 - If I were you I'd map this break 10/10 100% surely :D I'd exactly map the new sound that comes up with every 1/1 beat changing 00:59:152 - here to 1/2 and back to 1/1. You could create such great patterns along that melody.
01:57:438 - very strong beat, should be clickable
01:59:152 - ^
02:00:866 - ^ and so on... you get the idea. I highly recommend you to make them clickable, I know you mapped along smth else but you should keep that clickable
02:27:438 - same, and so on
I think you should remap that part. Focus on the really strong beats, making a 1/2 or even a 1/1 slider on the strong downbeats (big white tick) isnt a bad idea, for now it just looks like you mapped into the void
02:25:724 - this MUST be clickable too, this is like one of the strongest downbeats the song has

05:20:581 (3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) - overdone (way too high distance snap (DS) with no reason) imo. I was completely overwhelmed as i played it and i didnt feel any intense part for such a high DS
05:27:652 (4,5,6,7,8,9,10) - same

The main issue is that you are completely ignoring the strong beats. I know you map vocals but you cant just ignore the ultra loud beats which are 3 times louder than vocals. Focus on making strong beats clickable and you'll be ok. (:

Yeah, the beginning is a clusterfck. Thanks a lot for the tips; I'll be sure to apply them to the first section when remapping it.

I think that could work, but I'm too much of a scrub in mapping calm parts that it'd probably look boring and even more repetitive if I did fill that part in. I'll see if I can make something good, though.

Nah, I need these jumps to boost the star rating and amount of pp that my map gives, git gud scrub lo--seriously though; I can agree that it is overdone and I can change the pattern, but I think this part calls for a higher DS because it's a culmination of the dubstep and the vocals combined. I'll try finding another pattern, or nerf it (probably the latter, because the mapping style for the ending is supposed to have gradually increasing DS to symbolize falling apart and breaking down as the lyrics of the song suggest).

Okay, this I agree of being guilty of. I'll incorporate the dubstep and the beat of the song more rather than solely the vocals, but I still want to showcase the latter since it's the first time that the vocals go hand in hand with the synthesizer.

I have something important for u, its a common newbie mistake. It was on my map like on yours. I had gaps between vocals because there was no voice, but it was false. The music is not stopping. Maybe try to full out your gaps. If u take a look on other maps, they never got gaps, but im not 100% sure for your map but i think u should change it. UPDATE: I will be postponing any work on this map until I complete my second map due to time constraints. I will remap and respond to the moods in due time. Sorry and thanks for any mods that I haven't responded to yet!
