Well? Hows about we have our god blessed Bancho notify us if we get a PM on the forums in game?
Like it pops up if there is scheduled maintenence on Bancho or a IRC PM arrives have one for the forums, i tend to miss my forum PM's and it always iritates me when i get one and i read it about an hour after i receive it.

:D

no, not that useful really

I would find this useful. One more thing Bancho could notify me about.

not really needed. it would disturb you more than inform you. if you're in the forum, you should notice it yourself. if you get this notification in-game, you might not want to read it just at that moment.

web and in-game should be kept separably imo.

Messages in the form of pm's, emails, etc are meant for non-instantaneous responses. If you send someone an email, you can't expect that person to get back to you in a few minutes, that's unrealistic, some people have lives to live, classes to attend, jobs to work at, etc and can't be checking their email and likewise osu forum pm's every few minutes. If the person who sent you a pm needed more of an immediate response, then they would message you in game or send you a skype message or a fb message or a text or a phone call. Because of this, we don't need instant notifications in game for noninstantaneous discussions regarding the osu forums and their pm system. The general rule of thumb for noninstaneous responses is give the person 24 hours before starting to get upset or worried if they don't respond by then.

Exactly and combines with the limit, you wouldn't want to "chat" with these PMs.

Turn off notify me in game from forum settings then. Simple. Yes that is a proper disable setting. Logically something like this can be turned on/off in settings, it's not a case of something everyone must deal with kind of things.
