i think the most frustrating thing about this too, is that even with all of these issues, i don't want to leave the tournament because:
a.) the size of the field is somewhat appealing, though to be fair it's also a detriment because a good majority of the field is likely not going to stand much of a chance against the front-runners when the maps don't have any sort of holes to poke through weaknesses - i can see myself passing through a huge majority of the field with almost no effort (and that is absolutely not intended to be offensive to players at all as much as it is a point to further emphasize that mappool differentiation aids in giving players an actual fighting shot rather than making them hopelessly enter something where they'll get the broom)
b.) the lack of tournaments in mania as a whole makes it hard to want to pass this up: the size of this tournament gives players the opportunity to meet a ton of new players which is hugely appealing
c.) the odds of seeing another 1 v 1 tournament like this are going to be incredibly low and despite me really strongly disliking the premise of things here, there are a few showdowns in here that i desperately want to experience, and many more that could be amazing with tweaks
d.) this tournament is streamed, which means players at least get attention for their effort
there's a lot of good for this tournament but it's so hard to look at it as good when it's being overshadowed by such a stupid decision. it's pretty apparent you're doing something wrong, considering:

Me, considering that LNs and SVs are my strongest points.

Might as well give the money to the winners already tho.
The problem I see here is that it aims to be a "professional-ish" tournament by setting price pools, doing private invitations, with IDs and stuff that is not really frequent. So my opinion is that you should also stay as professional as possible when it comes to the map pool selection instead that just giving more chances to your favourite players. We dont even know who is the staff either!
Last year I didnt have the best of the experiences here playing this star league tournament because different reasons but now with all this stuff you are pmuch loosing all those ones who actually enjoyed it imo.
If you wanted to do a tournament like this, so "stepmania oriented" why you didnt host it in stepmania? I literally dont know if thats possible but I am psure you can setup something like that if you already managed to make such a thing here with IDs, invitations, streams whatever.

oh cool let's completely eliminate completely valid skillsets in an invitational tournament
rip anyone who's good at long notes because hey, that doesn't matter in a game that actually has release timing, right
EDIT: and before anyone uses this against me, SV maps deserve their fair share as well but they're certainly not as integral of a concept compared to LN which exists to some extent in nearly every map
people are clearly not liking your decision, and those who actually -do- like it won't be able to objectively justify why they don't because it comes down to preference (and if they do, their argument is likely not even confounded/close to being legitimate), whereas those who are not liking your decision are basing it off of your objective mention that you refuse to add any sort of emphasis to a part of the game that actually separates osu!mania and makes it something different/challenging.
this isn't a situation where people can just "leave the tournament" because the odds of a 4K tournament coming up again are contingent on whether or not someone wants to host it
i sure as hell won't be running another SOFT, most other tournaments are country-specific (which is why this affects me as well because there's hardly ever any US tournaments to begin with), and others are team-based which adds elements of scheduling and situations where odds of winning are also contingent on other uncontrollable circumstances
