what osu has now:

this is good but we need more icons. need an icon for 7*+
the design/color doesn't matter. just something to quickly differentiate higher diff ranges because right now they blend together on mapsets that have several of them.

my old suggestion for this was a triangle over black but you could go with anything

I agree
There is no difference in icon of a 5.26* and a 8.05*
All the other gaps are <1.5, so why not add another one for 6.75+
Outline
You might want to go tweet @_flyte about that because he's in charge of all the next graphics for osu!
Zelepha
Good idea
Proteus
I like this idea :D
non one c
Would be nice.

Could use some for Beginner (0-1* maybe and move Easy up to 1.75 or 1.6)

Could use an Advanced Symbol as well since they're becoming popular maps. (2.25-2.75)

eXtra/eXpert Could go up to 6.5 or something, and Ultra could be everything else.

Just thoughts. Don't forget Beginner and maybe Advanced at least. :(
Prophecy
It is quite confusing lol
Endaris
Icons are as shitty as star diff.

AncuL
could be U icon with black color

Well, Endaris. In the last 7 months, many things have changed in the mapping meta, as 7* diffs are much more common now
Endaris
But it doesn't change the fact that it will encourage people to map unreasonable shit just to "fill the spread".
Natsu
We really need a new icon, right now Extra diffs can be from the ones that can be played by 40k rank players until those that are only playable for like 10 players, a black icon with Ultra would be nice.

And no mappers that usually map for rank don't try to map for an icon lol.. so don't worry this wouldn't encourage anything, just would make the difficulty lvls more accurate.

And that justifies to have another inaccurate difficulty icon? Sounds about a weak reason. In the end, there will be another request of even more "accurate" icons just because <set value> * difficulties are "much more common now". Star Rating should tell you more than looking on pointless icons.
