18:39 Flutternye: Suhhhh dude
18:39 TheBronyGames: Suhhhh dude?
18:39 Flutternye: I finished the base for my marathon last night, I play tested it and I really like it already, but some parts need work
18:40 Flutternye: I asked last night for mods, this morning and just an hour ago
18:40 Flutternye: No mods so far
18:40 Flutternye: Wanna check it out?
18:40 TheBronyGames: sure
18:40 TheBronyGames: if it's finished, i might even be able to IRC mod ya
18:40 *Flutternye is listening to [https://osu.ppy.sh/b/986249 Panda Eyes - Nostalgia 64]
18:40 Flutternye: IRC?
18:40 TheBronyGames: First thoughts, Dafuq is that BG?
18:40 TheBronyGames: Internet-Relay-Chat
18:41 TheBronyGames: What we're talking on
18:41 Flutternye: Panda Eyes BG
18:41 Flutternye: I edited to have an OSU circle
18:41 TheBronyGames: .......
18:41 TheBronyGames: ......why?
18:41 TheBronyGames: just...
18:41 TheBronyGames: wh....
18:41 TheBronyGames: what?
18:41 Flutternye: Idk?
18:42 TheBronyGames: i don't even......
18:42 Flutternye: Okay?
18:42 Flutternye: Ignore the begining part unless you think its fine
18:42 TheBronyGames: OK, let's get into this, before i lose more sanity than when i discovered something else, that breaks logic
18:42 *TheBronyGames is playing [https://osu.ppy.sh/b/986249 Panda Eyes - Nostalgia 64 [Black Eyes]]
18:42 TheBronyGames: I always testplay first
18:48 Flutternye: I'll admit, the ending is a little much
18:49 TheBronyGames: Thoughts: I like the base you got, it gives you a lot of room to work with, i think this has potential
18:49 TheBronyGames: Now, let's hop into the editor, shall we?
18:49 Flutternye: I'm in
18:49 *TheBronyGames is looking
18:50 TheBronyGames: PS, i forgot to mention
18:50 TheBronyGames: You got no hitsounding
18:50 Flutternye: No custom hitsounds?
18:50 TheBronyGames: You may wanna look into that (or, if you're feeling lazy like everyone else does, hire someone else to do it)
18:51 TheBronyGames: doesn't have to be custom, but i noticed no hitsounds, other than the default one
18:51 TheBronyGames: IE: Whistle, clap, and finish
18:51 Flutternye: I could do it, but I never enjoy other hitsounds personally
18:51 Flutternye: I prefer the consistent click xp
18:51 TheBronyGames: Well, as much as i do too, it's part of the mapping criteria
18:52 TheBronyGames: So, you gotta look into that, unfortunately
18:52 Flutternye: okay
18:52 TheBronyGames: now, let's see....
18:53 TheBronyGames: 01:11:991 (4) - This slider here, try replacing it with a single hitcircle, it doesn't seem to fit as-is to me
18:53 Flutternye: Thanks xp
18:53 TheBronyGames: What'dyou think?
18:54 TheBronyGames: the point of IRC mods, is so we can negotiate changes here, so we can come to a verdict, that both of us find ok
18:54 Flutternye: Well it's out of place to me even because its the only intance of that combination
18:54 TheBronyGames: Alrighty then
18:55 TheBronyGames: Have you ever learned how to add Kiai time?
18:55 Flutternye: Nope
18:56 Flutternye: I've seen it, never known what it did
18:56 TheBronyGames: So, what you do, is you set two timing points, one at the begining, and one at the end of the section you wanna add it in
18:56 Flutternye: okay
18:56 TheBronyGames: What Kiai time does, is it flashes the hitlighting, and shoots stars out of the side of the map, and cursor
18:56 TheBronyGames: And if the player is playing Taiko, it will also DOuble their score intake
18:57 TheBronyGames: So
18:57 TheBronyGames: Try adding a timing point at 02:07:791 -
18:57 Flutternye: I know how to add a timing point, but what do I do with it?
18:57 TheBronyGames: and another at..... We'll say, 02:46:591 -
18:58 TheBronyGames: So, once you have the timing points added, it's as simple as going into the timing point manager, and checking "Kiai Time"
18:58 TheBronyGames: Done, you added Kiai time
18:58 TheBronyGames: It's mostly used to emphasize an important part of the song, Mainly, the chorus/refrain
18:59 TheBronyGames: Only check Kiai time for the begining timing point,
18:59 TheBronyGames: But yeah, Hit F6, and go into the "style" tab
18:59 Flutternye: So go to timing panel, click timing setup panel then?
18:59 TheBronyGames: You'll see the Kiai time box there
18:59 TheBronyGames: Check it, done!
18:59 TheBronyGames: *"Kiai Mode", sorry
19:00 Flutternye: Done
19:00 TheBronyGames: now, once a player gets to that section, they'll get all those effects, to help emphasize the section
19:00 Flutternye: Cool
19:00 Flutternye: Sounds good to me
19:00 TheBronyGames: If you look on the bottom time Bar, you'll see it's even marked in orange, like how break time is Grey
19:01 Flutternye: Lo veo
19:01 Flutternye: Lo veo means I see it
19:01 TheBronyGames: You may wanna consider finding more points to add it to
19:01 TheBronyGames: For now, let's get back into general changes
19:01 Flutternye: I know just the spot
19:01 Flutternye: and okay
19:02 TheBronyGames: Looking back at it, i'm wondering something
19:02 TheBronyGames: hang on, i'm gonna experiment with something
19:03 Flutternye: okay
19:03 TheBronyGames: yeah, i think that'll work
19:03 TheBronyGames: Try changing the Map settings, and make it AR 9.5
19:03 TheBronyGames: Give it a test, and tell me what you think
19:03 Flutternye: k
19:04 Flutternye: Wanna know what's funny?
19:04 Flutternye: This is the only song where I can do streams that long and spaced
19:04 TheBronyGames: you know you can just hit the test button at the bottom, right?
19:04 TheBronyGames: Really?
19:04 Flutternye: Yeah
19:04 TheBronyGames: I only have one as well, and i just cleared it for the first time today
19:04 Flutternye: I know I can hit test, I normally don't for whatever reason
19:04 TheBronyGames: United LAOS Remix
19:04 TheBronyGames: k
19:05 Flutternye: I played that today
19:05 Flutternye: I love that song
19:05 Flutternye: But I suck at it
19:05 TheBronyGames: Ikr? It's soo catchy
19:05 TheBronyGames: <3
19:05 Flutternye: lol
19:05 TheBronyGames: I even have it put on my phone
19:05 TheBronyGames: It's honestly inspitational to me
19:05 Flutternye: Oh, I know why I don't play in test mode
19:06 TheBronyGames: y?
19:07 Flutternye: No background dim
19:07 TheBronyGames: Oh right, forgot about that thing
19:07 Flutternye: I think the song is fine in AR9.5, but for those who play it HR might find it challenging
19:07 TheBronyGames: I usually play 60% dim, so it doesn't bother me
19:07 TheBronyGames: .....
19:07 TheBronyGames: that wouldn't make a difference
19:08 Flutternye: Really?
19:08 TheBronyGames: AR9 and AR9.5 would both turn into AR10 with HR
19:08 TheBronyGames: Only DT can exceed AR10
19:08 Flutternye: Oh
19:08 Flutternye: Okay
beaw
My (noob) Mod ^^
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE - I am not able to properly testplay the entire map. My mouse is broken and non-responding and I can't play the map without my mouse doing something stupid.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

01:12:191 (5) - This slider really interrupts the flow of the spaces between sliders and circles. Scoot it away from 01:11:991 (4) a bit more.

01:19:391 (6) - What is this slider reversed for?

02:06:391 (3) - I believe this slider should end on the white tick.

02:08:191 (6) - Start a new combo to signify the drop.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

02:08:191 (6) to 02:59:591 (1) - From the start to end of the first drop, your distance spacing between jumps and sliders are... questionable.

02:08:191 (6) to 02:08:991 (1) - You have a part there where the spacing is very small.

02:13:991 (2) to 02:14:591 (1) - This part going into the stream should be fine since it isn't a full beat.

02:26:591 (5) to 02:27:391 (1) - HERE, though, you have an entire beat just like the first part I mentioned. You did the same type of spacing here as if it weren't a full beat.

02:30:191 (7) to 02:30:991 (1) - The same thing happens here. You have a full beat to use, but the notes are so close to each other.

02:35:791 (5,6,7,1) - These notes are all the same time away from each other, yet they're spaced differently. The slider is really close to the last note of the 1-beat jumps.

02:39:391 (8) to 02:40:191 (1) - Same thing as before. Full beat, small spacing.

02:51:391 (6) to 02:52:191 (1) - YES. THIS IS GOOD. You utilized the full beat to collectively move the next notes over to a different section of the grid.

02:52:191 (1) to 02:52:991 (1) - But here, you space it close again :(

Hitsound sama is here to save the day!
NEVER USE 100% FOR VOLUME. DON'T. IT HURTS THE EARS.
I went and found two simple custom hitsounds that suit the map nicely.
Normal-hitclap
Normal-hitnormal
Download these two and apply them to your maps song folder (or just simply drag it in there)The default hitsounds for this map don't really match the music so you are better off using this. In order to have the hitsounds working, go to timing setup panel>inherited points>audio>then change each one so that it is normal custom 1

Starting on 00:51:391 - for the claps, because the music is quite consistent, you only need them for about every five white ticks (or five hit circles to put it simply) The claps help match the actual music's claps. As such, examples like 00:52:191 (7) - 00:52:191 (7) - 00:55:391 (9) - the end of 00:56:791 (4) - 00:58:591 (3) - 01:00:191 - 01:01:791 - I would go on but eventually you will figure out how easy the rhythm is and by then you can put claps easily. As far as I can tell from just looking, the claps do remain 5 ticks apart and are consistent so you do not have to worry about any weirdly or oddly placed hitsounds.
You are quite consistent with the finishes so that won't be much of a problem to deal with. Just make sure not to overuse them (like putting them every 1/1 tick)

Meta & Stuff

Make sure to add "Dubstep" and "Zeldastep" to the tags.

In song setup>design tab>unmark the box that says "enable countdown"
In the same tab, enable widescreen support.

actual map lol

00:26:391 - 00:51:391 - On this particular part of the song, there are some long synths coming from the music which leaves perfect opportunities for long sliders and slider art which I think you should take advantage of As such, I wouldn't say you "ruined" it by using mostly 1/2 beatsnap for that area. However you could have taken the liberty that the synths provided and created nice slider art that involved different rhythms and structure instead of just using a plain and boring simple 1/2. (I am not kidding, no one wants to see the same curved sliders used over and over again 50 times throughout the map LOL)
Not to mention, since that particular area is rather repetitive, it can be quiet tedious to use the same, constant, rhythm, over, and over again. You should change it up a bit by maybe adding a few triples here and there, incorporating some reverse sliders or maybe even some 1/2 sliders.
GOD I went on a rant there
If you are unclear of what I mean, to simplify, "Just make better slider art and use different rhythms because the ones right now are pretty boring"
Couple of examples:
Rhythm types

or you could just go with what you have before

Eitherway, it's good to switch them up occasionally. Now with slider art, I'm sure you are creative enough to think of cool looking sliders instead of just the simple "one anchor curve"
Start new a new combo on 00:51:391 (3) -
00:51:391 - 00:55:791 - I mean, you can't just have jumps just to increase the difficulty. It's good to have an alternative between slider, then jump, slider then jump etc. rather than just completely using hitcircles for jumps. It's pointless and it emphasizes nearly nothing because that part of the music is not nearly as intense as the kiai parts. And like I said, it's not a good idea to throw in jumps just for the hell of it and to raise difficulty (Assuming that was what you planned) You did a good job of that on 00:55:991 - which I recommend doing more of :D
00:58:991 (5,6) - Spots like these are when copying and pasting sliders/blanketing them are most helpful. Not only it looks more visually interesting, it also plays quite a lot better and looks more organized compared to placing them manually. Ctrl+C then Ctrl+Vplus using either Ctrl+G,H or J is really helpful and saves a lot of time. Examples may include, 01:06:391 (3,4) - 01:21:191 (3,4,5) - 01:28:991 (2,3,4) - 01:30:591 (2,3,4) - etc.

General stuff, not really going in depth. Good luck though o7

Sick map, one of my favorites.
