What's wrong with TV sized maps?

Playing a full song is the same as playing 2-3 tv sizes in a row.
Fun fact: TV sized maps have harder patterns when compared to longer maps of the same star difficulty.
TV size maps have more potential for complexity especially on lower level insanes (could be biased since that's what I usually play).Himiko wrote:

Can you find any full length maps with that kind of mapping at that star rating? I've played my fair share of full length insanes around 4.5* and most of them feel like what CXu said, like playing 2-3 generic TV size maps in a row.

tl;dr
Don't put full length maps on a pedestal, they're not as complex as you think.
Complexity comes from the song and not the length. If we had TV size camellia maps, they'd be just as complex.
People who think all TV size maps are jumpfests should stop getting maps from Tillerino.

Who the hell downloads the videos anymore? Waste of space and how are you going to watch that and play a map at the same time unless it's like one star
On top of that anime openings aren't that nice to watch anyway.

people complain about tv sizes getting ranked while other full size maps are waiting in pending, yet I'm pretty sure the players don't actually know how hard it is to rank something long lol. it's a lot easier to get sth ranked that's short because it takes less time to get finished, it's easier to get mods, and it's easier to get bns. if people want to get longer maps then they need to try ranking it themselves :/\/\/

Most have been said about TV sized maps playing-wise, but as Battle stated, the issue is also mapping-wise.
By being shorter, TV-size allows for faster/easier release than longer maps. Modding a 1m30s map is a world different than mapping a 3m/4m long map. Therefore with an higher amount of TV sized maps, it is only logical that common grudge brew against them, from mappers and players (for different reasons in most cases).
It would be nice to have some opinions from BN and mappers on this issue instead of locking the thread just because the issue is tackled-ish player wise.

except you get one score for a full song, while you get 2-3 scores on tv sizes
I never have any problem ranking a 3 mins + song >;, ranking a 3 mins map isn't hard if you are experienced enough, also modding a good 3 mins map is alot easier than modding a bad tv size map.Battle wrote:
